If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy any place.

I don't agree with the statement above...

But YES.. it is important to generate happiness in yourself before you go looking for it elsewhere.

FREAKINASHEVILLE!!!

For all Y'all who have been wondering about the cripticity of my explination of where my Location is:

Asheville NC (now y'all can stalk me!)

and yes, I do love where I live! AVL is a big city (for me) and has a funky eclectic downtown with a lot of neat shops, all with nice people in them (except for Tops for Shoes- they're a bunch of bastards who won't give you the time of day unless you look like a 50 year old yuppie woman who has a Burberry umbrealla and Channel glasses /rant) and there's lots of um... interesting people wandering downtown to say the least. Esp. on north Lexington street. But I've never felt threatened or intimidated by anyone here, which is nice.

AVL also has UNC-Asheville , pop 3000 or so students, and it's small, public, and liberal arts. Plus it's got my Multimedia Arts and Sciences major, which is major fun for me! I love this school, tho the buildings look a little like 70's mental institution. The teachers are all awesome, I've never had a teacher who was an exception to this rule. They're all really nice and really willing to help students if they need it.

There's also the obligatory "strip" which has the mall, the Kmart, the Wal-mart (biggest one in the world, baby!), the Lowe's, the Target, and so on, and It's nice that all those places are right next to each other within about three miles. I don't have to scurry about town to go shopping at the big places, since they're all right next to each other.

AND there's a GAZILLION different resturants in AVL and the surrounding area, all ranging in price and type of cuisine, but for the most part all are really really good. Thus the "Paris of the west" for all the resturants.

AND of course, the surrounding area. We've got the French Broad River running right through town, and tons of places to go rafting, canoeing, kayaking, etc. And there's the Blue Ridge Parkway, also running right through town. And there's the mountians, everywhere, with tons of hiking, camping, FLY-FISHING!!! (my favorite), and the outdoorsy stuff.

About the only thing I don't like about AVL is the way the smog blows in from TN and settles over the city, which makes it hazy about 7 out of 10 days in the summertime. Damn coal burning TN!

ShaniFaye- you're more than welcome to come and visit sometime!!!

Well, then there's the...no, that's really rather lame.
Ok, how about...no, that's a bit of a joke, actually.
Hell, now that I think about it...Omaha blows.

That's about right...I grew up there and anytime anyone asks I tell them it is a good place to be FROM

I've got my gals living nearby, my office is less than a five minute drive, I've got a lovely view, cheap rent, a nice yard and lots of history here. My town is historical and hysterical, filled with aged hippies and artists and I can hear the river from my room if the window is open (which it usually is).
Someday I wish to move West...Washington or Hawaii...I expect to be quite content there too.

I love where I live because I am surrounded by the beauty of the ocean and mountains. I can take a walk down to the beach and watch the sun setting over the cliffs, and then walk down the wharf and have fish and chips while listening to the sea lions barking. I can ride a roller coaster whenever I want. I can hike in the redwoods or walk in fields studded with gnarled oak trees. Then there's the human element - I can walk out my front door and see a carnival of freaks passing by. I might walk down the street and see a couple dressed as cave dwellers, with furs and clubs, or a mne in a giraffe costume riding a bike down the middle of the road. That's normal here. It's even better because most people take them in stride, as I do. I am surrounded by coffee shops, art and bookstores, and I have my choice of independent movie houses. I live in a neighborhood of Victorian-era houses and there are trees lining the sidewalks. Within a 10-minute walk, I have three sushi places to choose from. Life is good here...now if I could only afford to stay.
