I need help with an anniversary gift.
Can anyone please help?
My seven year anniversary is coming up, and I need help with gift selection. I plan on taking care of everything for my wife this year. I rented an exotic hotel room and made reservations at her favorite restaurant. I didn't want her to have to do anything, so I figured I would even go as far as getting her a ensemble for the evening. I purchased a new dress, jewelry and lingerie, but I still need to find her a great new pair of shoes to go with her new dress. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys could provide me with some suggestions, either of a good website to go to, or for those of you who are fashion friendly and trendy could maybe suggest a specific pair for me to get. I don't mind putting out money, but I am not looking to spend $300 on shoes. Here is what I have so far... Jewelry http://www.palmbeachjewelry.com/jump...UCT&itemID=949 Dress http://www.goodorient.com/goodorient...1&cat=7&page=2 Lingerie http://www.wickedtemptations.com/g3728j.html Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

VERY cute dress!! Good job on all the preparations for the wifey. I'd suggest looking at something like Macy's. I wasn't sure if you wanted to shop online or in person, but some gold shoes would look really cute.

It's a beautiful dress, though I'm not loving the jewelry with the dress, the dress is very feminine, the jewelry is more like something I'd wear to work.(My personal taste) It's a high neck dress, so it really doesn't need anything at the neck, I'd prefer a silvery cuff bracelet and chandelier type earrings.

Thank you for your responses so far. And to Maleficent, I can see your point on the jewelry, but I chose this item because onyx is the gemstone for seventh wedding anniversaries. But maybe I'll see what's available to better go with the dress, and just give the onyx as a gift.
thank you,

That is a wonderful dress. I can't see the lingerie right now, but I'm sure that with your taste in the dress, it'll be fine.
The way to choose shoes in this case is to match either the base color (white) or the trim color of the dress. In this case gold would work really well, and would match the jewelry which is also gold, so I'd definitely recommend gold metallic finish if you're going to go with heels. If the dress is one of the other colors, you'll want to match the shoes to either the fabric or the trim, or with the darker colors, black. I personally prefer flats with a cheongsam, as they seem to fit the traditional Chinese style of the dress better, but heels seems be called for for an anniversary; they're just sexier. Starlight's first link and maleficent's second link (in gold) would both be good choices. I personally don't care for shoes with no backstrap, so if I were choosing for myself, I'd go with Starlight's strappy heels. |

Unless your anniversary is after easter make sure your wife is not like me.....NO white shoes before easter, I know a lot of people dont do that "only wear white shoes from easter to labor day" thing...but there are some of us that still do....I think black ones would go with the dress very well

Jewelry... Always jewelry. She'll remember each piece and what date it represents. It's the most long lasting gift that holds the most sentimental value. Women LOVE jewelry.

Personally I would never buy shoes or a dress for my wife. The risk of the following is too high:
a) getting the wrong size b) her not liking my selection c) all of the above ...and this from someone who goes shopping with his wife and helps her pick out her clothes... trust me. Lingere it can be a very sexy thing. However, who is the gift really for? Here is what I would do.... Defininately do the hotel room, restaurant and jewelry. Surprise her with the hotel room. Check in as early as you can. Then take her on a shopping trip. Take her to a few good shoe stores. Get her to model some shoes... buy the ones she likes. Take her dress shopping. Have her model them for you. Lavish her with praise. Make the day ALL about her. Your are her personal shopper. Book her some time in advance at the hotel's spa (if the hotel doesn't have a spa get a hotel with a spa or find one nearby). Get her a pedicure, manicure, facial and massage package. Get a massage yourself if you have the money. Refreshed, clad in her new heels and dress.... take her to dinner. Hold her hand, stare into her eyes... tell her you love her. You have a choice to make. If the jewelry is just some nice jewelry give it to her either at dinner or just before (so she can maybe wear it if it goes with her outfit). She will be touched and it is just the icing on a nice day. However, if it is really nice, significant jewelry... give to her after you return from dinner... give it to her when she is basking in post coital bliss... by this moment she will think that this has been the night of her life. She will be relaxed and happy. If this is significant jewelry you will blow her away. She will fall in love with you all over again. The next morning you have one more thing to do... either a) get breakfast in bed or b) figure out a really good place to take her for brunch. There has to be somewhere romantic or ultra cool to go (in Toronto I'd take her to brunch at the atrium at the Art Gallery of Ontario -- it's all about the atmosphere).
