Building a sled ramp in the backyard [winter fun] Hey, the first big snow just came through for me [cleveland] , and it reminded me when I used to make a sled hill in the backyard... [im 18 now, haven't did it in a couple years] So I decided to make one again this year, for my newphew, [he's 2, about to turn 3, he comes over weekly], he'll get to play on the sled hill in the backyard. During my late single-dight years, One of my friends and his dad used to make one every winter and he and his brother always went it on it. Whenever I went over his house, it was a blast, so I decided to make one too and it seemed to work pretty good. All I really did was just shovel a lot of snow in the driveway and on the grass in the backyard, put in a big pile, then form it to make a ramp-like contraption. After a couple hours of under 30*F [or -5C*] weather, it was ready [for the ramp to solidify, so it doesn't cave in]. Sometimes, water was added on incline of the ramp and then it morphed in to ice and increased speed. Does anyone else do this - How did it work out for you ? Good idea for the kids [or the innocence of children in you] ? Did you ever had any method/style of building it ? I wasn't sure where to post this [parenting, living, how-to]; So I thought general would be best. |

Keep spraying water on it every night so it builds up a thick layer of ice and slide down on crazy carpets... It'll scare the shit out of the kid...and his parents. |
