My cousin actually got one of those things for Christmas about 10 years ago. We all knew it was stupid, but we had to try it just to see. It actually worked in the right kind of snow (when it was just around 32º out and nice and sticky). Otherwise (when it was too cold out), the snow was too powdery and just didn't ball right.

Unfortunately, when the snow was in that perfect condition for balling, it was also heavier and we put too much pressure on the plastic handle. It broke the second day he had it.

Stupidest invention ever? I'd say probably not.

My advice to you, now that you have it, would be to use it as either a mellon-baller or a cat poop scooper. Or both.

Umm dude that thing kicks ass. I never had one and always at the bus stop got owned by the kids that did in a snowball fight. You can RAPIDLY make snowballs with it at probly 5x the pace. It is NESSESSARY to have it. No way is it a stupid invention.

I remember years ago seeing a book called 101 useless japanese inventions. There were som pretty bad ones, such as a helmet you wear that has a roll of toiler paper on it so when you have to blow your nose you just roll it down.
