I'm running for president...
 

I'll be running for president of the computer society at my university at the end of November. I'm quite surprised (and pleased) at myself because the decision was pretty impulsive and i don't usually jump in with my eyes closed, its kinda exciting :)

Didn't pay much attention to the US election, did ya? Going Negative.. point out the oppositions bad qualities, back when he was a wee lad in pre-school, he pulled a little girls pony tail, clearly he's a horrible human being...

The US election was never in my thoughts until the result really. I don't like the outcome but... c'est la vie, 4 years goes fast sometimes :)

Anyway, if no one else is interesting in becoming president, i automatically become president. Lets hope no one else is interested eh? Because i'll have to stage some kind of promotional campaign if there is :confused:

Good luck, welshbyte! I think a competitor (sp?) would be a good thing...you definitely have it in you to write some inspiring promotional material...

Bolteddown: the pres has to interface with the student union proper and make decisions about where the society is going as a whole and make sure the rest of the "staff" is doing its job (treasurer, publicist, admin team etc). As for changes, i think i want to make the society more social... getting the geeks into a bar and getting to know each other IRL will be good for all of us. Thats just one change anyway.

Medusa: thanks lots :) My friend offered to do some poster designs if i need them, she's cool. I'll see if i can think up some clever slogans anyway :)

UPDATE: I have been elected president of the computer society woohoo!!

Went on my first ever date last night too... things are looking up this week :)

I got to speak to the rest of the exec committee today and they look like a good friendly bunch of lads. They're all in the 2nd year and i'm in the first year, i think i'm gonna have fun and learn a lot :)

I spoke too soon here, looks like the date was all just a game that the girl in question likes to play at the expense of guys feelings. Not even gonna sink to her level to call her a bitch. Still happy:cool:

So back to the plot... another day of getting to know people in the computer society, including one guy who IMHO is a computer genius. We (well, mostly he) figured out why USB memory cards werent being recognised and he taught me quite a lot in a few hours. Also experienced my first ever fire drill in the computer society's building. Its exciting new stuff. Loving it :)

You don't need to call her a bitch - just have her quietly killed by your presidential henchmen ;)

The handover is in january, i dont get henchmen, loose interns, back-handers, english arse kissers, religious zealotry or empty excuses to invade oil rich nations until then ;)
