Crazy emergency call

Have a read of this...

Quote:
Boy's chilling emergency call
October 29, 2004 - 12:29PM

A seriously wounded eight-year-old calmly described his father's deadly knife rampage during a call to US emergency services.

"My daddy killed me with a knife and I'm gone," the boy told a dispatcher in Tacoma, on the US West Coast.

"Can you please send the Army men or the ambulance?"

The softly-spoken child gave a wrong address and then hung up. But a second dispatcher called back, keeping him on the line while a frantic search began.

Authorities released the remarkable tape of Anthony Sukto's calm courage during the October 22 ordeal, and the frantic efforts to find him.

"What's going on there?" asked dispatcher Kristine Woodrow.

"My daddy killed me with a butcher knife," Anthony said.

"How did that happen if you are talking to me?" Woodrow asked.

"Because," Anthony answered. "I don't know what happened, but something. He grabbed knives. I woke up.

"My dad, he was killing my mom and then my, my, my dad told me to go onto the other bed and then he's like, 'You're next,' and then he killed me. I'm still alive. I kind of survived."

Woodrow said she wasn't sure that what she was hearing was for real.

"He was extremely calm," she recalled.

"It wasn't a typical response from someone who had just witnessed what he witnessed or had just been attacked."

Woodrow said while police and firefighters tried to find where Anthony was calling from, she tried to keep him on the phone.

"Are you bleeding, Anthony?" she asked. "Uh huh," he answered.

"Where are you bleeding from?" she asked. "From my stomach," he said.

"Are you there by yourself?" Woodrow asked. "No. My mom is already dead and I am the only survivor," he said.

Authorities found the home minutes later when the child's father, Tony Sukto, 36, flagged down a fire engine. Sukto has been charged with the murder of his wife, Pranee, 39, and attempted murder of his son. He has pleaded innocent.

Anthony underwent surgery for lacerations to his liver and is recovering.

Woodrow said she wants to visit the little boy. "I want to tell him how amazing he is," she said. "I don't think he knows that."

Holy shit.

That kid is

a) a hardass
b) brave, cool minded, unbelievably level headed
c) gonna have some serious issues

I'm both disgusted by the story and amazed at his resilience. Way to go kid. Pity your father was such a dick.

That's the line that got me. Chilling stuff. I know I would have screamed and shouted and generally done myself no favours at all.

Sometimes people go into a sort of dissociative shock in reaction to trauma. Poor kid - hope he gets help and DOES NOT get returned to his father.

that is so messed up. He could be scarred for life. Well, he is going to be scarred for life with the stab wound.......

but mentally, damn. I hope he can live with it. kind of like "A Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash where he got made fun of but it made him strong.

Except it would be "A Boy Stabbed By His Father."

Damn this version isn't nearly as funny

Wow. He's going to need therapy. Lots, and lots, of therapy. I guarantee he had no idea what he was saying, or what was happening. He was in shock, and tranced out.

No question about it. He was totally out of his body when he made that call. That "army men or the ambulance" sounds more like a four year old than an eight year old. Mentally, he was on a whole other plane.

Man, that is a freaky story. I can see the "made for TV" version coming out soon, after he appears on Oprah, Maury, and every other TV show that wants to capitalize on his courage. Sad.

I was thinking the same thing. This really sad. The poor kid lost his mother, his dad is insane & now he has to live with the memory of seeing his own mother brutally murdered.

all I have to say is... Good Luck kid.

Nice to see the Dad pleaded innocent . I would have to believe that he believes he's innocent by reason of insanity. None the less, it would be nice if the dad was erased from existence.

It kinda sounds like something out of a weird "horror" movie or something.

That kid is definately pretty cool for keeping a cool head. I wouldv'e most definately been freaking out or something. That has to be really traumatizing in the future.

Shit, JS, I did that too. There was a trail of red dots from the shop room to the health office. I was really calm about it, oddly.

Optik_nerve: I agree, I just bought a cheap as DVD of "Creepshow" that I haven't seen in 15 or so years. This report reminds me of the stories I (think) remember from that movie. So unbelievable you can't possibly think they're true (not that "Creepshow" is, you just think it's plausible), and yet they are. Just like our soldiers receive purple hearts, I think little tiny kids, who have no adult concept of what they're doing, and yet behave heroically, should receive the same. They don't do what they do because they expect something for it, they do it because it's what they think is the right (maybe moral) thing to do.
