Annoying Commercials
 

So, the other day I was taking a shower, listning to the radio like always when, I noticed just how many times a day while showering I have to cover my ears and hum to myself so I don't hear the commercials that make me want to jump off a bridge. Then I was watching TV and noticed the same thing and I've come to the conclusion that half my time watching TV or listning to the radio is spent listning or watching commercials and that half of those commercials are annoying. Which means that a quarter of our time meant to be enjoyed is spent being annoyed.

But my real question was what is the most annoying commercial you've heard or seen.

For me lately, it would have to be the Mcdonald's rap commercials... they just make me want to die.

Most advertising annoys me. The ones that annoy me the most are the ones that use antiestablishmentarianism* and rebellion as a sales gimmick.

*I'm just so happy that I got to use that word in a contextual meaning. I'm very happy now.

I listen to talk radio a lot when I run out of CDs. I seem to hear the same weird commercials on all the AM stations, but my favorite is definitely the PSA about the abuse of senior citizens.

"My son sometimes theatens to kill me. I don't think he means it but he's drunk all the time!"

I also really enjoy the pseudo-Barry White pro-breast feeding song.

"...gonna turn the lights down real low,
for a slideshow on childhood disease resistance."

Somebody please tell me I'm not the only one thats heard these beauties.

They need to make a TiVo for regular radio. And I'm not talking about satellite radio.

They have it it's called MP3 Player and a Data Tape thingy... I love it but I guess I need to buy one for the shower then all my problems would be solved.

Now if we could just ban all honking horns, sirens, and screeching tires from radio commercials, I'd be a happy man...

When I lived in Boston I hated hearing those 1-800-54-Giant Auto Glass commercials on the radio. Years later their jingles still ring in my head almost weekly. Pretty much whenever any commercial comes on the radio I start thinking of that one.

I just can't figure out why car salesmen think they have to YELL at us.

CortiSlim and Dr Cineamon (sp?) - you can lose unnecessary weight (WTF?).

The speed talking at the end of the commercials when they have to read terms of agreements for specials - do the guys just practice tongue twisters all day??

by far the very worst commericials on television/radio today are the current crop of Dr. Pepper commercials. you know the jingle, it ends with...

ok, if my life's personality is given to me by a damn soda... feel free to kick me in the nards. i find most advertisements to be patronizing, but this is especially grating to me. i've actually considered starting a thread dedicated to my seething hatred of this commercial campaign. this thread'll do i suppose.

i dont watch tv--i am making an exception for the red sox this week--i find almost all commercials grating in the extreme.

but what i really hate are the adverts on live365 netradio stations, whose sole function is to annoy you into signing up for vip features....pay us and we'll shut up.

Hmm, lately I find myself immediately changing channels when that Mercedes commercial comes on - you know, the one with the thobbing monotonic techno beat, that says "0-60" something-or-other.

Car commercials are definitely the worst offenders.

I tape most of the good shows so that I can fast forward through all of those annoying commercials....

i try not to listen to the commericals...i usually turn on a cd then...have Fuel in for the last month or so...but the commericals that piss me off are the ones that say "i graduated from X tech place and i am making 65,000....maybe in cali or somewhere but in PA you dont make much more then 30k fresh out of college/tech school

The stupid commercial for the Chevy Malibu Maxx with the bratty kid int he booster seat who tells the simpering father to go through an inane ritual for starting the car. It is a sickening endorsement of the current trends of humoring our little progenies and letting them rule the roost. And yes I have (a bunch of) kids so I feel that I have some experience in this area

Accually, I rather enjoy mocking this phrase. Whenever theres an uncomfortable silence, I'll bust into a McBurgarian Hymn.

The worst commercial ever is the the Starbucks commercial where they mutilate Eye of the Tiger. Why must they crucify the good songs?

nah i got it all beat.. movies.. they show freaking comercials in at the movies now.. all a ploy to lower movie costs yet i dont see them gone down yet.. heck.. im done with the movies.. ill just wait till the dvds come out.. copy it edit any crap i dont want it story the original and watch in bliss

Any commercial that interrupts "Alias" is annoying.

although its stupid the one i keep seeing i tend to like cuz its soo like my friends and I. three dudes in a small office.. on holding a stereo, another dork danceing and the last one.. cant remember.. a 4th dude comes in and complains about lost shipments a 5 dude missing and something else.. they turn off the radio show the asshat that everything is ok and turn it back on and continues to dork dance..

heh stupid but yet funny.. the one comercial in the history of my watching tv i liked.. all 31 odd years

mentos... i f*cking hate mentos comercials.. dude in NY city climbs through a dudes car and then turns and flashes the candy.. the driver just shakes his head and smiles

dude opens the car.. driver.. "wtf are you doing." dude gets out after trashing the floors and back seat with all the dirt oil and grim.. he turns and flashes the candy tube.. driver already pissed off sees the tube and was reaching for his gun freaks and unloads a 9mm clip into the usless teen and his friends..
