FBI seizes indy media news servers. In related news: 1st & 4th Amendment Rights Void
I was pretty amazed to not find this posted anywhere on here... this is pretty big news, believe it or not, even though your nightly news may be too scared to cover it.
I could go on and on about how fucked up this situation is, but it's best you just read it yourself and make your own judgements. A couple things to keep in mind - the Gov has NO RIGHT to seize anything without giving a reason. An order they gave, a reason they did not. - If they can seize news servers on a moment's notice, where does it stop? http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/...324417,00.html http://www.indymedia.org/en/index.shtml ^^^OH LOOK! looks like the courts got this one right (after the fact) and ordered the servers returned. I'd be curious to hear thoughts on this... in this volatile time of imaginary new terror and government threats, what does this mean for our rights? |
I'm no expert on British rights, but I do know there's no 1st and 4th amendment...and that's where the servers were located.

Hmm, that is interesting.....

I heard it had something to do with pictures of undercover FBI agents.

British government...different rules apply. Done at the request of the two other governments and not an FBI operation.
The title of this thread is a tad misleading. After seeing it I opened it thinking I would read about a Federal operation in Indianapolis run and executed by the FBI. That turned out to be wrong all the way around. |
