A total lunar eclipse is coming -- October 27 - on or after 9:14 PM, EDT.

Lunar Eclipse - The Blood Moon

According to folklore, October's full moon is called the "Hunter's Moon" or sometimes the "Blood Moon." It gets its name from hunters who tracked and killed their prey by autumn moonlight, stockpiling food for the winter ahead. You can picture them: silent figures padding through the forest, the moon overhead, pale as a corpse, its cold light

Good post, mal. I'd have hated to have missed this.

I think when we had one last year up here at Clarion, it happened to be about 2 degrees
outside and of course, cloudy, and everyone in our Astronomy class forgot about it, hopefully
I'll remember this year and hopefully it is a clear night out.

I happen to think that Lunar Eclipses are much cooler than Solar ones, although they don't
have quite the impressive value of a sun being blotted out for a few minutes.

Hmmm, guess I'm going up the mountain that night, wish I had a better camera, the pictures out here should be great!

I reacon it looks so chilling and cool when the moon is red like that.
Reminds me of wearwolf movies and that quote in the bible they always uses in thrillers or horror movies about the end of the world. "...and the moon became as blood...".
