Before you die
 

I just got to thinking about all the things that I want to do. So, is there anything that you have to do or experience before you die?

For me, I want to skate on a frozen pond. :thumbsup: It looks so cool in the movies and, being from Texas, I don't get to see many frozen ponds or have a chance to go ice skating.

What about you?

I'd like to see the Serengeti in Africa. It would be amazing to see the earth as it was so long ago, with all the animals making their migration for survival. Thinking about it blows my mind. A friend of mine just went there for school and someone from the Masai tribe gave her a gift to bring me. I can't wait to see what it is. I'll make it there someday.

Skydiving is definitely high on the list for me.

I'm drawing a blank. The only things I can think of off the top of my head are:
1) Experience a total eclipse of the sun.
2) Experience a 24 hour day and night (above the Arctic circle or below the Antarctic circle during the appropriate times of the year).
3) Visit Antarctica (which could kill part of #2 above)

VitaminH: I did the skydiving thing a couple of years ago (it WAS on my list, too). I strongly recommend a tandem jump for your first time. It's cheaper, faster, and no worries on your part: you get to enjoy the entire process and someone else worries about keeping you (both) alive.

Visit Ireland, and try to manage proficiency in Gaelic by spending some time in Co. Kerry.

Set foot in all seven seas.
Stare into the depths of an active volcano.
Examine art kept at the Vatican and the Louvre.
Watch a major league baseball game in every stadium in America.
Ride out a tornado.
Stare at the blue marble from space.

The list is endless, really!

I have to agree with the pond skating (Im a sucker for the movie Ice Castles and I've always wanted to do that)

I'd also visit every square inch of scotland....thats my lifes dream

Y'all can come over my house this winter-- 200 feet from an outdoor pond -- ideal for skating, I'll even make you real hot cocoa wiht marshmallows and peppermint sticks (or cinammin red hots) ( I have a big basket of scarves and mittens too, you can keep warm)

AS an anthropologist who had to find work in the corporate american world, I would like to live a little piece of my free life a bit before I die

1) Wander the streets of the 1000 year old city of Prague, visit the library of Prague University, which was established in 500AC.

2) live like a playboy in either Budapest and Prague, find out exactly how good my hungarian is.

3) backpack through Europe with an unlimited budget

4) drive a Corvette,

5) buy an over-sized ring for the woman I love...

I want to see my kids grow up and have children of their own. Holding my grandchildren would be the best.
Circumnavigating the world on a sailboat is something I've always dreamed about.

done the pond skating (what can I say, I live in Canada)
done the waterfall shower (fun, but a bit cold)
done the 24 hours of sunlight (it really messes up your mind)
there is a volcano right out my window (not active, but it does steam on cold winter days)
visited the Vatican and the Louvre when I was 21
been to Ireland (very nice place I might add)
never ridden out a tornado, but I have done a couple of hurricanes


I never realized these activities would be something others would long to do, but after reading the above posts it's nice to see people with the same desires as I have.

I would like to see every continent, and have time and money to explore them...

I would like to be a bestselling author, have my doctorate in French, see my kids grow up to be healthy, happy, well adjusted and have families of their own, fulfill all my sexual fantasies, and have enough money to leave my children the money they need for life.

I'm not going to die. Just because no one has ever done it before doesn't mean it can't be done.

I want to have enough money to have a house built for someone my size. 8-foot doorways, 12-foot ceilings, 7-foot-long bathtubs, and one of those super-king-size beds that basketball players advertise for in "Tall" magazine. Since high school, I have never slept on a bed without my feet hanging over the edge.

I will see Mt. Everest with my own eyes. I dont have to climb it, just see it with my own naked eyes.

Mostly things that I feel I need to have done before I die would be.

Hunt and score a legit kill on: Moose, pronghorn, Grizzly or Blackbear, Polar Bear, Large Elk and a Russian Boar.

I also want to learn to play guitar extremely well.

Well, if I knew when I was going to die. I'd probably want to do a HALO jump (High Altitude Low Opening), which various militaries do.

Go into space, thats all I really wanna do.

Visit Africa and see Bonobos and Gorillas with my own eyes (as well as the other rapidly disappearing wildlife).

Have children and grandchildren.

Have sex with Scarlett Johansson, Cameron Diaz, Rachael Weisz and Angela Jolie at the same time

You need to go to the Hotel Monaco in Chicago... They have Tall Rooms - I'm not quite short (5'9") I was a midget in the room, I could barely reach the shower head to adjust it... Really quite cool concept...

Spend a number of years living in a vibrant non-english speaking international city, becoming truly comfortable and proficient in that language and culture. Where? Good question. At this stage Paris and Tokyo are at the top of the list.

I too would like to:
- experience a white night (24 hours light) and a 24 hour dark day... although I think the last one will be a little difficult with the extreme cold it being winter time in Antarctica or the Arctic.
- See icebergs and walk on a huge glacier (guess that'd tie in with the previous point)
- Visit Australia and New Zealand.

Guess I might've forgotten some, but these are the ones that come to mind, having read other people's lists.

I agree with Splck -- holding (knowing) my grandchildren. My own kids are such a trip for me -- their kids will blow my mind.

Have a family (husband and pets)

Travel to a bunch of places

Pose naked on the TFP

Show my tattoos to my mom and have her live to see the next day

Own a new car. (For those of you who do, you have no idea how much you take that one for granted.)

Own a home.

Paint my room a funky color and have people walk in and say "That is fucking cool"

Have the respect of people whose ass I would currently like to beat

Loose this horrible thing I am afflicted with called JEALOUSY

Before I die, or them, I'd like to have a day long jam session with members of Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Who, Van Halen, and to many more to count. Of course in Central Park or a field like Knebworth in England. That's all.
