Any Pipe Lovers Out There?
You would think right off the bat that any 19 year old smoking a pipe is either
a very strange kid, or just lost in his own little world. But I find pipes to be very slick. Not only is the aroma 20x greater than any cigarette and most cheap to medium priced Cigars, but even the cheapest tobacco is at least half way decent, and lasts forever. I bought a Spade pipe from my buddy last year for 5 bucks, got a 5 dollar pack of Captain Black Gold (it's all they had at the local CVS store) and still haven't finished the pack, and it still smells like it did when I bought it. I also talked my friend into buying one, and about every week we'd just sit on his back porch and discuss whatever came into our heads for about 3 hours while smoking our pipes. It has to be one of the most relaxing experiences around and almost seems to clear any thought out of your head right then and there. Anyone else around here just love pipes, ever tried them, know any good tobacco you could recommend to others, philosophical arguements you've won once you got that pipe going? I'd love to hear them, because it seems like pipe smoking has declined dramatically, and even though it can cause cancer, nobody really gets addicted to it, nor do most people smoke it everyday (at least I hope not!!) So come on, share! |
I uh, I'm a fan of the pipe but I've never tried to smoke tobacco out of it. And true, I've never known any 19 year olds that use a pipe for tobacco, but hey.

I went camping with a few friends of mine and the last evening we were there my pal busted out a pipe and some tobacco after dinner. he said basically the same thing, that he spent most nights hanging out on the porch with his housemates smokin the pipe, and that it was a good way to relax.
I went to a hookah bar near my school a few nights ago, it was an interesting experience; there are a bunch of different flavors to choose from. |

Hmm, very interesting... :D I bet you've had your own fun times, but that's a different matter altogether. :) |
Well, one of my friends smokes a pipe occasionally (although he's not quite sure how to pack it right), but mostly we smoke cigars. Personally, I prefer cigars because there's a bit more resistance when you suck in to take a drag -- I don't like how easy it is with a pipe. I'd definitly agree though -- there isn't anything more relaxing than hanging out with a couple friends and smoking a nice cigar (or pipe). I wish I could do it more often (except for the whole cancer thing).
By the way, we're 19 years old. |

I have 2 nice hookahs, one is Egyptian, the other is Syrian. Both are used for smoking hash, never really smoked tobacco in them, well I did once.
|
I smoke a pipe- got started at a ren faire, as they are more "period" than cigars, at least to the public- found it to be highly relaxing and enjoyable- havent looked back- I especialy like a long, church warden style pipe, as it smokes cool, and well, looks cool too.....
|
I am another 19 year old who smokes cigars on occasion. And as others have said, they are really nice and relaxing to smoke every now and than. It's very nice!
|
I am a in my late 20's, and i have smoked a pipe at our local poker night for a year or two now. I love my pipe. At first people laughed, but now there are several of us who enjoy a good smoke out of our pipes!
|
I plan on picking up a pipe soon- I have been for about a few months now. I'm not a fan of cigarettes at all, I find it pretty gross at times. Some reason all the issues I have with cigarettes are transparent when it comes to pipes. I also find them very relaxing and enjoyable. Btw, I am 19. Shouldn't be long now till I have one.
Cheers to Pipes. Also, what's the average cost of a decent one (CDN Currency - if you can) |

I smoke a pipe sometimes and I'm a woman. I have an elegant Butz Choquin french ladies pipe and smoke a blend of tobacco called Comfort of Bath which has a gorgeous vanilla aroma. Caused a bit of a stir when I lit up after dinner in a rather posh establishment in Venice. All the waiters lined up to watch...slightly disconcerting but the Maitre seemed rather taken by ithe sight and gave me lots of complimentary brandies. I tend to smoke it in winter more than summer and find it relaxing to enjoy a bowl by a roaring fire.

I have a collection of pipes. I found them when an uncle died and we were going through his stuff. I like the simple wooden one's the best.
|
I'm down with the pipe. I'm more of a cigar guy myself.
|
I used to smoke a pipe.
One of those cheap drugstore corncob pipes. The tobacco definitely tastes and smells better than cigarettes. I had problems keeping them lit, though. Guess I didn't pack 'em right. I never figured out if I was supposed to inhale or not, so I went back to cigs. before I quit altogether. |
From what I hear, you're not suppose to inhale, it's like smoking 10 cigarettes at once if you do, so I stay away from inhaling. Keeping it lit is a tough thing, since you really aren't suppose to take the pipe out of your mouth, it creates an airway through the pipe and ends up extinguishing it, (this is how I figure it works, anyway.) You have to baby it basically, can't smoke it like a cigarette or it will always go out - but this is a good way to get yourself out of an arguement you're losing. :)
