High school class trip to Seattle includes stop at strip club
LINKY

The kids didn't do anything wrong. Shit, I went to a few strip clubs before I was 18. My problem is with the school/teachers. This was a school trip and a visit to a nudie bar should not happen. Although I woulda loved to have gone to a school that took me to a strip club. |

You almost have to view this one of two ways:
The 'younger' perspective would probably go something to the extent of, 'wish I had gone on that trip, that would've been cool!' The parents perspective would be to question how the students were allowed to have that much freedom,(could it be, freedom in school?), to have visited a strip club. But you also have to agree that the students were on thier senior trip, the last trip before entering the 'real world', so maybe they were right in making thier own decisions. I agree that no wrong was done.

I don't see that any teachers were there with them. That would be an issue. Where were they supposed to be instead of the strip club? The Space Needle?
Sure the school is supposed to be up in arms about it. That's one of the troubles with this country... sex is dirty and terrible. Good for those kids.

Gee, I never got a field trip like that when I was in High School. Maybe the problem is that the Principal is jealous because he missed out.
On a serious note: While they didn't do anything illegal, the school was responsible for them. In a way, they were also "representing" their school. I think that this was bad judgement on the kids part and a poor choice by the teachers/chaperones since they supposedly didn't know where their charges had gone.

If I'd been on the trip I would have gone to the club too. But it is too bad that it's going to bite the ass of some teachers who were cool enough to give the kids some freedom. The last kid quoted showed some maturity for acknowledging they screwed it up for the teachers. But hell, oh well! A lap dance is a wonderful thing.

They turned the kids loose in seattle for a few hour, and some of the kids made use of that temporary freedom by legally visiting a stripclub. What's the problem?
The kids involved in this were all at least 18--read-adults! They are able to make their own decisions, and should be treated accordingly by the school and everyone else. When we went on our senior fieldtrip to annapolis, about twenty of us went to hooters, and would definately have gone to a strip club, had one been available.

Well, if they were 18 I dont see that it is much of their parents business if they want to go to a stip club?

It was a school trip. In alberta you can legally drink beer at 18. But a school-sanctioned, chaperoned trip would not include getting blasted every night and going to strip clubs after doing the stuff planned on the itinerary.

Free time means you do what you want, not what the school is afraid will make them look bad. If free time is part of the trip, the shool should not be faulted and should not be held responsible for anything that happens.

Well I'm an eighteen year old male from a very small town myself.
I say.........ROCK ON!!!!! DAMN THE MAN!!!!! RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE!!!!! and all that jazz, really, its no big deal. Just as others here have said, the teachers didn't accompany them, so hey file it under "Kids Will Be Kids" and be done with it.

Since this is a year old issue, I wonder what, if anything, happened to the teacher that chaperoned, and if this years' class had their trip put on a lot more restrictions as a result.

I'm a 100% advocate of nekid women but IMHO I think this was at least in poor taste regardless of the legality assuming that all of those who attended the joint were of legal age to do so. It's a high school day trip for crap's sake. File this one under the "what the fuck was he thinking?" category.

I can see an arguement from both sides. Yes the kids were of age and had some free time to kill, so they chose to spend it at a strip club, no big deal. But they were also there representing their school, and under the official responsibility of their elders. They probably should have thought about the repercussions upon their chaparones before going in.

Bah...no harm was done except a small-town school's name in a different state, and that's considering that the school teachers is to blame, rather than the fact that kids will be kids.

Being 18 means you are adult enough to make responsibly decisions. Although I do not slight the students for going to a strip club, I do think they should have thought about the reprocussions that the school would face.
