Genesis Lives!
The Genesis mission is not a write off!
Two of the three capture wafers survived! NASA confirmed it last night. CNN is reporting it now. (I love xm radio!) CNN expects a telephone interview with the The NASA Director shortly.

The video clip of that f-er coming down out of the sky was very cool. It would have been even better had it worked according to plan (obviously) but it was still very cool. 193 miles per hour and SMAAAAAAASH into the desert.... Loved it!!!

Haven't we had enough Phil Collins??
It's good we salvaged some of the data. /hoping the non-retrieved space-particles mutates desert scorpions to giants

Great news! (and I love my XM too... )
I'm very excited to hear what data they can pull out of it. Even though the footage was fascinating, I was really sad that the Genesis recovery didn't work.

The beast spent a couple years in orbit around the sun (like it would orbit something
else :P) and collected solar particles that don't usually make it to the surface of the Earth. They supposedly picked up ALOT of them. It's suppose to study the origins of our Solar System and most likely our Universe. If you can extrapolate particles and find out the origins of the Universe, that has to be some crazy algorithm or theory or something. Geesh.

I can't believe I wasn't alone in thinking this thread was about Phil Collins.
I probably wouldn't have even clicked the link if I had known the truth! But either way, I'm glad they're going to be able to get some information out of it.
