Former Pres. Clinton has heart attack
now in a New York hospital. Possible bypass.
no link, just heard it on the radio. |
Clearly a ploy to garner sympathy votes for the D's.
I'm kidding, hope he's OK. Edit: This just hit google news 3 minutes ago: http://cbsnewyork.com/topstories/top...247121909.html Quote:

He's one of the few prez's that I've actually liked. I hope he does ok.
|
Yes. We were talking about him last night. Especially the Lincoln-esque rags-to-riches aspect of his life -. Only in America. I respect him for that and for his man-of-the-people qualities, which are honest, real, and not Mad. Ave.
Good Man. |
I hope Bubba makes it. He is the man.
|
Bill better be okay. I like that guy a lot. I'm holding a Krispy Kreme for you Bubba!
|
He looked good at the DNC too. Very unexpected.

I admit first thing I checked was my dead pool -- No one has him --so I guess it's ok if he pulls thru. (I have to say it -- I'll explode if I don't.... You mean he actually had a heart? I'm amazed. I just had someone ask if during heart surgery he was going to be given a heart! Let the jokes begin! |
I love the fact that Craven Morehead started this thread.

He's not in surgery... yet.. I had no respect for him before... why should that change now? Be awfully hypocritical if I did. Besides... if you can't laugh - then what's the point...
|
maleficent - I see your point. I'll always feel for G.W. what you feel for Clinton.

From what I have heard he has coronary atherosclerosis (or blockages in the arteries that feed the heard muscle) but he has not actually had a heart attack. That is when a clot forms in one of those blockages long enough for part of the muscle to die.
He clearly is a heart attack waiting to happen, but then so are a lot of the rest of us. It still is hard to make and maintain the necessary life style changes. It sounds like things were caught early enough for him to be at very little risk from surgery and he should do very well. Even though I don't like his politics and I have no respect for his character, I do respect his dedication to his political beliefs and I believe the reports that he is a hell of a nice guy. I wish him the best. But I do feel sorry for the nurses that are going to have to take care of him. |
I hope he survives. I would actually like to see him as our president again, even though that is not possible at all.
|
I watched on CSPAN2 last night his 1996 convention speech. I wished for a little while it was '96 again. Not just because he was president, but that sure was a simpler time.
People love that guy. First he detracts from Kerry news by putting out his book, now this. John Kerry can't get away from him! Kerry probably turned on the news today to see if his post-RNC speech got attention, only to see a lead story on Clinton. |
damn. shoulda been george. actually dick would be even better. his parents named him perfectly.
|
From what I've read it's lookin like a quadruple bypass. Shit.......
|
maleficent, your comments reminded me that perhaps his treatment of women should be noted, even here. Yes, that is his mistake and his downfall. I think he has paid for it in shame and reputation. So in my assessment, I do not hold it against him. Perhaps I should but I don't. That may be myopic or sexist of me - it may well be. It is a real issue.
|
I'm a bit confused why his condition wasn't detected while he was in office. You'd think those presidential physicals are rather thorough.
|
NewBonk, Heart ailmenst are not always detectable early, especially not with just a routine physical. Things can go from bad to worse rather quickly as far as your heart is concerned, and he has not been president for 4 whole years.
I think the reason that he was keeping an eye on his health is why they noticed it now. He did not pretend nothing was wrong -- he went to the hospital. They got it early enough and I am sure he will be OK. Maleficient - Bill Clinton might have been a shitty husband, but he sure as hell was not even almost a bad president. He's the best president the US has had in decades. As far as president of the US, he has a damn good record. What kind of person he is socially and privately, and what kind of husband and father he is to his family, has nothing to do with his running of a country; and quite frankly it is non of your concern, nor business. Its a shame that his personal life was dragged into public by the likes of snakes like Starr, since it was none of your business. He is being remembered for getting a blow job from an intern, not for what he has done for his country as President. Bill Clinton may not deserve your respect as a husband, but he sure as hell deserves your respect as President of the United States of America. |
