Two teams have now announced their launch dates for the Ansari prize


Paul G. Allen and Burt Rutan's SpaceShipOne will make their first launch on September 29th. They will then have 10 days to make their second launch and win the prize.

They will be spurred on, however, by yesterday's announcement that the Canadian DaVinci Project's spaceship Wild Fire will be making its first launch a few days later on October 2nd...

I am really hoping that the DaVinci project wins... and not just because they are Canadian based. While SpaceShipOne has millions of dollars in backing from people like Paul Allen, the DaVinci Project is made up largely of volunteers and a budget of roughly C$350,000...

Just love that underdog, can do spirit.

i dont know, if i were the pilot...i'd probably like to have the million dollar spaceship instead of the bubblegum and duct tape macgyver ship. space travel is the last place you should probably be pinching pennies.
