Banned Discovery Channel adverts
This are pretty funny. I guess the marketing gurus decided they were a bit too close to the bone, so to speak.
Anyway, view them before they are removed permanently from Discovery's website. http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence...evilclown.html http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence...ail/satan.html http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence...rimreaper.html What do you think? Marketing genius if you ask me. Damn you political correctness! Damn you to Hell!!!! Mr Mephisto |
I really don't see whats wrong with them. Those are some commercials that I'd actually remember, not ones that would fall into the sludge of commercials that are all the same these days.
|
The evil clown one? AWESOME.
Flash files ganked and relocated to my account. :) http://www.wam.umd.edu/~keving/Disco...evilclown.html http://www.wam.umd.edu/~keving/Disco...nel/satan.html http://www.wam.umd.edu/~keving/Disco...rimreaper.html |
I've seen the clown one on television before.
|
they show dead people who've been blown to pieces on the news but we can't see this?
|
I don't see anything that bad about them...
|
I think that webpage is a marketing stunt. Good one though.

Either way, they're funny. Mr Mephisto |
Yeah, that clown commercial is great.
|
I have a copy of each ad saved to disk just in case ...
|
hilarious and unbelievable that these are too "edgy" for TV.
bullshit. |
Yeah, I think it's a marketing stunt as well.. but they're great ads hehe.
|
Those are pretty great. When the clown got hit by the beach ball, I laughed out loud.
Edit: Did anyone else notice that the "Send comments" e-mail address is a yahoo account? Does that strike anyone as a bit weird, that the discovery channel needs a yahoo e-mail address? |
I dunno, but I think that is definitely a advertising stunt... Why would they upload banned advertisements to a webpage that is open to the public?
|
I dont get whats wrong with those... Why were they banned?
|
Banned or not, I really liked them. Who knew that the Grim Reaper was afraid of sharks?
|
i'm pretty sure I saw the grim reaper one on Discovery awhile ago.
|
Clearly a marketing gimmick. They were UPLOADED to a PUBLIC site, with a "notice to employees" telling them not to air them.
... ... And they've all been on TV. Kind of a cheap ploy to increase coverage, but they're still funny. |
I laughed out loud when I saw the grim reaper draw the heart, and then run back from the incoming tide.
Comedy gold. |
I for one have no problem being a member of Discovery Channel's evil marketing schemes.
|
Clearly this is a marketing stunt, and a damn good one at that. You and I are emailing this link to ppl that never watch Discovery Channel.
Nice job. My favourite is the clown. |
Those are pretty damn funny. It would be pretty interesting if it is a marketing stunt, especially since it's target audience would be internet users. You'd think they would target TV viewers since they are still the majority but that just goes to show that more and more people are getting connected.
I love Shark Week :D |
the clown one was the best, but the others were mediocre.
|
It just struck me as humourous that satan has a huge bling blingin' "S" necklace...
|
No clue why those ads got pulled/banned... MAYBE the Satan onecould offend some people, but the other two are fine... they are petty good too.
|
thats cool, why would they not show them...
|
anti-ads. stuff the net hounds will eat up. more viral marketing. just ask yourself- why would leave it up on the net if they were banned from TV? that makes no sense at all.
the clown one was hilarious, the others were ok. :) |
Utterly superb - I wish I had seen those on TV. Much better than the usual crap, I agree.
I loved the grim reaper! |
I agree with analog in that the clown one was the funniest. I like the end where he gets whacked by the beach ball.
|
The clown getting hit by the beach ball was classic.
But I also loved the Grim Reaper running away from the tide and skipping rocks. hehe |
