2004 Olympics

What's your interest level in the upcoming Olympics?

bigoldalphamale 08-05-2004 10:02 AM

i'm not really that big into olympics to begin with...and if i had to pick one that i like least...it would be the summer games. i like hockey and the skiing events. summer olympics might as well be called the steroid games.

brandon11983 08-05-2004 10:03 AM

I couldn't care less. I used to be very excited to watch them, but this year I am not interested in the slightest. Somehow I don't feel in the minority feeling this way.

Averett 08-05-2004 10:10 AM

I'll watch some. I like the swimming events... mmmmm swimmers...

I wish they showed more of the equestrian events. I'd watch all of that.

SecretMethod70 08-05-2004 10:14 AM

I stopped caring about the Olympics when I was old enough to not be interested in whatever my parents were watching.

Soemthing about a whole lot of advertisement, overhype of something as trivial as sports, and now professional athletes competing in an amateur competition just doesn't appeal to me ;)

mm yes equestrian events. id be really interested in those. and i like the gymnastics. and the swimming.

interest in both summer and winter. winter, i like the skiing and ice skating.

its all pretty cool, really.

maleficent 08-05-2004 10:19 AM

Way back when I was young and in shape, I swam competitively in high school and college, so the swimming I love, this year, I am especially interested in Michael Phelps -- this kid is amazing in the pool, and it's be really cool if he beats Mark Spitz's record.

Those are about the only events that really hold my interest...

Averett 08-05-2004 10:20 AM

I like the Winter olympics much better. A broader range of events that interest me.

present_future 08-05-2004 10:25 AM

I'll try to catch some of the events (my favorites are the swimming, soccer, and basketball competitions) whenever I have some free time. Based on the exhibition games, the US basketball team could be in for a rough ride in their attempt to win the gold.

Ace_O_Spades 08-05-2004 10:28 AM

I have a personal friend running in the 800m who has a chance to make finals... I'm highly interested!

Unfortunately, 80% of all athletes in the sprints are so drugged up that it doesnt even really matter.

The only reason Marion Jones didn't make the 100m is because she's off her drugs, and everyone else is still on theirs.

It's disgusting how many US athletes dope and don't get tested

KellyC 08-05-2004 10:29 AM

I like it. I wait for this event for every four years for as long as I can remember. My favorite competition is gymnastic. Flexible, petite girls flipping in the air....what more can you ask?? :D

What about Donovan Bailey and Ben Johnson? They both doped. It's not just US athletes.

It's a very corrupt system. Hopefully officials crack down on this. If there aren't system wide testing and punishments, doping will always occure.

matteo101 08-05-2004 10:34 AM

I am very interested in the Olympics. I like the Canadian coverage for one thing, CBC does a really good job. I also just like to see every athelete from my country do good. It's not like in the states where theres an american winning a medal in every event. It must get boring. I also like seeing shots of the host country, and Greece will be really cool to see. Plus I like sports.

Polyphobic 08-05-2004 10:38 AM

No interest here since I am not much of a sports fanatic. I basically only watch car racing and every so often a football game. Hockey is interesting but not on TV IMO.

cdnjeepin 08-05-2004 10:39 AM

Can't wait..prefer the winter olympics over the summer ones..I'll be going to Van. when the winter are there in 2010

unoaman 08-05-2004 10:40 AM

Looking forward to swimming, and will probably watch diving if I think about it. The fact that it is back in Greece is really more intresting than the competitions.

ChrisJericho 08-05-2004 10:48 AM

I would watch the Olympics more if there was a dependable schedule of when the events I'm interested in are going to be televised. I don't care about running in circles or swimming back and forth in a pool, I want to watch judo, wrestling, and tae kwon do dammit !

sailor 08-05-2004 10:53 AM

Ill probably watch some of the cycling coverage (that is, if they even show any of it  ), but beyond that, Ill probably just watch occasionally.

and they were caught because Canada tests athletes who are so obviously doping... not the same for americans.

Albeit, the standards for testing in the states has risen over the past years since 2001, which is why you see the times rising back to normal standards.

there is no fucking way Montgomery ran his world record clean... No way in hell. NOBODY runs that fast without doping..

I'm with you on that. God God, they're gorgeous human beings!

Bentley Little 08-05-2004 11:33 AM

I wish they would be more true to the ancient Olympics and have them naked. Then I might watch.

ratbastid 08-05-2004 11:37 AM

I'm sure I'll catch some of the events, but I won't go much out of my way for it.

God of Thunder 08-05-2004 11:51 AM

I watch more of the winter games than the summer ones.

I'd watch more if the coverage was better. During the Winter games I watch CBC's coverage. (Canadian TV for those not in the know) One of the benifits of living in Michigan is getting CBC on basic cable.

Cervantes 08-05-2004 11:55 AM

Couldn't be less interested.. Those kind of sports just isn't interesting to me.

pocon1 08-05-2004 11:58 AM

All who don't like the olympics are probably terrorist anti-american commie pinkos.

haha!

I don't know what point your sarcasm was trying to make... but it made me laugh nonetheless.

You sure you wanna watch naked guys running around??

ARTelevision 08-05-2004 12:18 PM

Hell yeah - we're counting the days.
It's the big event!

If you watch the guys in their track suits, it's kinda like watching them run nekkid - some of them don't wear athletic supporters...

and those little tiny speedos on the divers? Close enough to nekkid...

Watch Water Polo not on network tv-- they'll do a lot of underwater shots, those tiny speedos get pulled in a varierty of directions - and well - it's all in living color.

Not that I've given this any real thought....

Ripsaw 08-05-2004 01:28 PM

Volleyball, both the indoor and beach variety.
TKD.
Judo.
Wrestling.
Fencing.

That's about it.

Destrox 08-05-2004 01:38 PM

Never have cared, and most likely wont start to care. Its just not my thing.,

bundy 08-05-2004 01:55 PM

i'll be cheering on the Aussies in the pool.

i'm quite looking forward to Thorpe, Hackett and our team matching up against the Americans again.

apart from that, i won't really mind if i miss it...

however, i will be watching Roy & HG on THE DREAM, which they will be doing very soon.

canuckguy 08-05-2004 02:26 PM

I always watch them when the time zones allow, our national news channel cbc canada does a good job of covering the events and make if fun to watch.

I was in Sydney unfortunately during the same time the 2000 games were going on....- Roy and HG were handsdown the most annoying commentators I have ever come across on the tube...

They are actually coming back for the 2004 games?

They reminded me of the cantankerous old coots who used to sit in the balcony of the Muppet Show.... :D

World's King 08-05-2004 02:41 PM

Not enough nudity anymore.

I'm tellin' ya --water polo - -they're viscious under the water - I saw lots of very tightly tones men's butts -

Women's water polo is just as fun- -swimsuit gets grabbed just so, and you've got escaped boobage...

warrrreagl 08-05-2004 03:22 PM

OLYMPICS! BRING 'EM ON!!!

onodrim 08-05-2004 04:25 PM

Medium here - I do enjoy watching them when I can, but it's not so important to me that I plan time to watch it. I also like the Winter Olympics better, more sports that I enjoy watching in there.

Baldrick 08-05-2004 05:06 PM

I enjoy watching the Olympics - summer or winter. I won't go out of my way to schedule TV time around it, but will always watch it when it's on.

omega2K4 08-05-2004 10:38 PM

Meh. The Olympics are too fucking boring, I'd rather watch that 4th rerun of Law and Order any day.
