The olympics bring forth the purest elements of athleticism. No rules like basketball, baseball, football, etc... Particularly the track and field and swimming events are just straightforward competition. Get from this point to this point as fast as you can. It is amazing to see what the body can do.
Some people mentioned the steroid issue. I believe, as well as many others, that the olympics still brings the best in the world together. If everyone is all on steroids, then the best will still rise to the top. A lot of the athletes don't like taking them to level the playing field, but the like losing even less. Even Carl Lewis admitted using steroids after his track career was over. |

I hate how the networks put the most boring events on during prime time. Running and swimming are THE most boring sports in the world, yet somehow they get the best slots.
I'd rather see the field events or the equestrian events or ANYTHING else...

I think the thing that annoys me about the olympics is when you bring in the professionals, like tennis, basketball, baseball (though you don't get alot of pro Americans in this - those guys don't scratch themselves without being paid). |
