Ladies--any leg-shaving advice?
So, as those who peruse the Tilted Portraits board may know, I recently decided to take the plunge and do the ultimate cycling badge--I shaved my legs.
All, however, is not well and good in lycra-clad, shorn leg cycling land. My legs dont much like it. I can shave my lower legs just fine, no problem--but my upper legs are terrible. Lots of razor burn and ingrown hairs--it looks like I was attacked by a rabid swarm of mosquitos. And they dont seem to want to shave back down. They were nice and smooth after I first shaved them, but even after 30 minutes in the shower, I couldnt get them smooth again today. Those of the feminine persuasion--help!

Have you considered waxing? It lasts a lot longr than shaving, no in grown hairs, the more you wax the lighter the hair gets.
Or using a depilliatory. If you insist on a razor. 1, Razor must be really sharp, rarely will I use a razor more than 3 times. 2. Best bet for a really smooth shave, use conditioner, it's more slippery so you can ger a lot smoother.

Conditioner does work well as a shaving lotion. I use Aveeno Postively Smooth and it works quite well.
Shave against the grain. Get a shower poof and exfoliate. And then exfoliate again Get that dead skin off of your legs. That'll help with the ingrown hairs.

I'm a guy, but a cyclist as well so I figured my 2cents might work. I typically just use soap, but I definitely make sure to use a brand new razor, and a good one. I use the same razors I use on my face. The Mach 3 I think its called. Soap or conditioner has been no problem for me. Hope that helps.

Takes about 15 minutes for the entire process (of which most of it is eyebrow shaping), first time is really the only one that ouches a little bit -- after taht - -you don't notice it. There are kits that allow you to wax yourself, but you run the risk of burning yourself with the hotwax, or if you use a cold wax formula, of not pulling the skin taut enough when you pull off the strips (it's just easier to have someone else do it)
