Cow Chip Bingo in Ohio
Ok, Now I am finally understanding why people make fun of me because I am from Ohio.
I went to a spring carnival tonight at my Daughter's school. They were having raffles of all kinds to make money. One of them was called "Cow Chip Bingo"...The tickets were $10, and the winner would get $100...So I go to see what it is all about...They have a grid painted on the grass, that looks like a bingo card. Everyone bets on one number and whatever number the cow pooped on, was the winner. SO the Farmer Dude shows up with the cow trailer and everyone runs....He lets out two cows and we sit there for two hours to wait for one of them to poop. Can you beleive this? I can't believe I sat there and waited! Finally after two long hours, the cow pooped...Everyone cheered, somebody won $100.... Please tell me this happens in others areas and not just Ohio? |
Sorry, I hav never heard of this elsewhere. People have been ragging on the South, and Georgia in particular, of late. Thanks for deflecting the attention for awhile.
|
I think that only happens in Ohio. Then again they do wierd stuff in Alabama too..
|
I heard of this when I lived in Minnesota. People said it was one of those things they do in Ohio... ;)
|
<------- Ashamed to be from Ohio right now.
There are a ton of fucking hillbillies that have nothing to do around here. |
Cow Patty Bingo is common all over this part of the world - I assumed it was everywhere. They play for up to $5000. It usually doesn't take more than a couple of minutes if the cow is a little scared when thet turn her loose.
|
<--- definately heard of it, and from central Cali, if that makes you feel better :)
HS used it as a fundraiser at one point quite a few years back. |
Ummm....not sure what to say to this...waiting for a cow to poop.
Yeah, I'm at a loss for words, sorry. |

grin, i saw this on tv once. I believe it was a report from Ohio
|
Last time I heard about cow chip bingo it was at a university in Florida. PETA got all involved with it because people were laughing at the cow. They said it would hurt the cows feelings and people shouldn't be sitting around laughing at a cow putting stress on it to poop.
Wonder how that cow is going to feel as a burger on my plate? |
God I hate to admit this, but yes, they do this in Nebraska as well. But wait there is hope for me yet as I am not a *native* Nebraskan. I came here from Pennsylvania. At least I *think* thats better...isn't it? Well? Huh?
|
I am not feeling too much better, but I am glad some of you have at least heard of it!
I have to say, if I go somewhere and see that again, I think I will have to leave. |
I dunno....sounds like a good excuse to sit around with a few friends, and toss back a couple, in anticipation....
|
I dunno, its not so bad. You could be in the desert, watching the lizard rallies........
|
i'm from texas, yes they do that there too, as a fundraiser. they also have something called 'donkey basketball', where local celebrities play basketball all the while dragging a donkey with them all over the court.
|
the prom commitee at my school does that each year, except the winner gets 10 grand

Okay, this is first time i've ever heard of Cow Chip Bingo... I wish I could say we have the same in my state but Bingo is illegal here in all forms *shrugs*
Cow chip bingo sounds interesting & a little funny to say the least... |
sierra2774, I just have to ask this. I see you live in northeastern Ohio. I'm guessing that it's either in Portage or Columbiana county. I'm leaning more towards Columbiana. Am I correct? I can see that stuff going on in Columbiana.
|
That happens here too... wait i am from ohio

How did you guess that? |
HAH! I can't belive that I was actually right. That's funny as hell.
I don't know, it just seems like something that would go on around there. Don't take offense to this, but when I think of Colunbiana county I think of a bunch of redneck farmers. Maybe I'm totally wrong, but ever since I was a kid that's all I've ever heard of around there. I don't live too far from Columbiana. I can be there in about 30 minutes. I used to drive down to 4 Wheel Drive Hardware and buy stuff for my Jeep when I had one a few years ago. |
You are right about Columbiana County...They are a bunch of redneck farmers...But I must say that I do not put myself in the category at all! Must be because I live right on the Mahoning County line....I know that 4 wheel drive store that you have been too, I can actually almost see it from my front yard...
It is such a small world! |
