Q. Are breaks or lunch periods required?
A. There are no state laws regarding breaks or lunch periods. These issues might be addressed by company policy, or could be covered by union contract.
Well, that was worth looking into. Results were rather depressing. Still weird to give breaks to one department and not another. Where I work I am two feet away from someone in a department that gets breaks. Guess I'll be happy that I get a lunch break. =(

I am fortunate that where I work we have a GREAT boss...if one of us covers for someone who had a child emergancy we are allowed to leave early on a day of our choice and he will cover our responsibilities. I have no problem at all doing a little extra or whatnot for these situations but I agree that someone asking me to TOTALLY rearrange my life is ridiculous.

Oh and all of us..smokers and non smokers take our breaks together during the day...it reminds me of passing time between classes in high school lol
