Everyone has a different idea of what beautiful is, kind of like how a judge defined pornography, some years ago. "I don't know what pornography is, but I'll know it when I see it."

Some folks say, I don't know what beautiful is, but I'll know it when I see it. Webster's dictionary defines beautiful as "Having qualities that delight the senses, especially the sense of sight.
Excellent; wonderful."

So, if I am a visitor from outer space, and I have no idea what this word beautiful means, use words to descibe beautiful.

Beautiful is an all emcompassing definition of the finest qualities.

Beauty is that feeling of warmth, and pleasure you get in seeing a thing. It is the most ethereal and flightiest of feelings.

I prefer to define pornography as : anything that will give a judge an erection

I would start with the natural landscape. I'd point to the limitless cloud-flecked sky, the complex leafy outline of a green horizon, verdant fields, and clear running water and say the word "beautiful." Then I'd point to any group of wild animals, the birds, running deer, wild horses - that sort of thing - and say it again, "beautiful."

The world of humans would be last on the list. The idea of beauty is best formed first in relation to the non-human world. Once the simple and uncomplicated beauty of nature and life can be appreciated, some of these sensations can be seen in men and women. As we are not normally visible in the natural state, I suppose I'd start at a naturist gathering in an outdoor setting.

There aren't many things obviously beautiful about humans when we're dressed up, surrounded by, and defined by the accoutrements of culture - at least not without stretching the term toward its limits.

Beautiful is the magnificence of Earth and the other planets from outer space.
If they can understand that, they can understand beauty.

To me beautiful is a word used to describe something that simultaneously evokes feelings of awe, respect, pride, and admiration in me.

So, my answer is this: Beauty is what ever you make it. It can be as simple as a pint of Guinness or as complicated as a rain forrest. In reference to humans... beauty is whatever you think it is. As an alien you wouldn't be attracted to what we have to offer and we couldn't explain it to you with no reference as to what is "beauty" where you're from.

All in all... It's everything.

I wonder though, if an alien would get some of the more subtle ones. I figure that by gaining an initial appreciation of the natural world's beauty we gain a sort of gestalt regarding the types of inner relationships, harmonies, and contrasts comprising the beautiful. I think that's what sensitizes us to the more subtle perceptions of beauty - elegant code or mathematical solutions, for example - or the other examples above.

An object is beautiful when you get pleasure from looking at, and want to stare at it for eternity. When you are sad, or depressed, thinking of that beautiful object helps to bring you back up.

It makes you feel good, and warm, and fills your soul with kindness. And it makes you smile, a lot.

Actually, big tits that are reaching the ground can be quite unattractive. Big tits that have obviously been filled with goo aren't attractive either. Natural, firm, and gravity-defying big tits are beautiful.

I never would have realized how beautiful the human body can be in all it's shapes and sizes until I went to swinger parties where I've seen men and women at all ages (18 and over) and all sizes. There are very few that I would find NOT beautiful in their own way.

The face and emotions expressed there is one of the most beautiful parts of the human body. I think that is simply because of the power of human expressions.

I find that the woman with whose body you can find many flaws and yet she accepts those flaws, is humble yet unashamed of her body is one of the most beautiful things to see.

She was the epitome of grace - nautral, unassuming, unpretentious grace - passion, and love.

She will remain in my heart as forever beautiful.

Everything and everyone in existance contains beauty. The purest form of beauty is nature. It's not what you see, but what you feel. Beauty is simplistic, unseen, and warms the soul.

Beautiful is something that no matter how many times you gaze upon it, it never grows old, and you always want more...

This isn't characteristic for me to say but... everything is beautiful, if you think about it. And no, I'm not on any kind of drugs-- I don't believe in taking drugs for recreation. Think about it; I'll leave it at that.

I think beauty is more presentation then content. A "plain" woman who shows herself with confidence is more attractive than a "gorgeous" woman who lacks esteem. Attitude has a lot to do with how attractive someone is.

That said, I think one of the most beautiful things in the world is the smell of a cute girl as she walks past.
