I'm a family man - I run a family business.

Simply Incredible

OH MY GOD it's story time. I haven't had this good of a story in a while so listen up: As you may or may not know, we live (me and my brother) in a small town in North Carolina. I'll keep the name out for now. Anyway, it's basically redneck-central. I'm not ashamed to admit it. I mean, hell, I have some redneck in me. We all do from around here. I have a vicious southern accent mixed with a northern accent on some words.

So my sister just recently got her license (she's 16) and we are going to go and meet my parents at the local park for a picnic. How sweet. Well, the sweet ain't as sweet without the sour.....

So me, my brother, and my sister (driving) go to mcdonald's to pick up some REAL food for a picnic. We get the food, and are prepared to pull out into the road to get our way to the park. Well, at 6-7 PM in my hometown, the main road is crowded as hell. So any spot that is open you have to take. So there is a gap, and I tell my sister "go for it, and floor it." So she pulls out and with her 4 cylinder car (with me, my brother and her in it) she is having a hard time getting up to speed. I won't lie, she pulled out in front of a truck, but the truck, if it was traveling at a decent rate of speed (35-40 MPH, the speed limit in downtown) we would have had PLENTY of room to go. I'm not distorting the facts here at all...I want you guys to hear it as it happened.

So the truck was in actuality traveling at approximately 50 MPH and it has to slam on its brakes to avoid hitting us. Instead of us being sorry about it and him passing us in the other lane, he decides to rev his engine and speed up to 55-60 MPH and overtake us while blowing the horn. I mean he missed us by inches folks....almost took off the side mirror.

Me and Lasereth have a bit of a temper, as you see by us constantly arguing in the computing forums about whatever. Lasereth's long and drawn out posts show this

So I tell my sister to keep going as usual and if we get beside him or he stops, we are going to call him a motherfucker and give him the finger. *DISCLAIMER* DO NOT DO THIS. SEE BELOW FOR REST OF STORY. */DISCLAIMER*

So he stops to get gas, right where we are going to turn as a matter of fact. So he is getting gas and we turn and my sister blows the horn and I yell MOTHERFUCKER!!!! and Lasereth gives him a good ol' fashioned Middle Finger. We agree that he got owned and should learn some manners. We head to the park.

We pull into the park, and somehow the guy (must have quit fueling right then and there) caught up to us. He pulls into the park, and tries to RAM us. I shit you not. The backend of his truck slid around and I yelled for my sister to FLOOR it. If she wouldn't have hit the gas, he would have hit us. Lasereth would be in the hospital. So they guy (in his macho Ford F-350 Super Duty) pulls around us and CUTS US OFF before we can leave the park. Then he sticks his head out of the window and says something alone the lines of "get the fuck out."

So me, in my straw hat, ask what the problem is. He starts cussing immediately. He gets OUT of his truck. This is when I get nervous. What if he has a fuckin' Nine. Or hell, what if he is going to cut us. But then my temper kicks in. Especially Lasereth's. Who the fuck does he think he is fucking our family? My sister is 16, just got her license. People make mistakes.

So Lasereth says that the guy is making a big deal out of nothing and the guy is like GET OUT. Lasereth doesn't want to pay a lawyer so he says no. The guy beckons. GET OUT. So I am like oh Jesus we are going to fucking rumble.

Then I realize that this guy is a 30 year old male. We are 2 20 year old males. We can fucking take him. We weigh (each) at least 100 lbs more than him. We aren't overly fat, but we are stocky enough to not fuck with. I work out.

So Lasereth is like "sorry man, just be on your way." And the guy is like SHUT UP. GET THE FUCK OUT. I am like man this guy is gonna try some shit. My sister is crying at this point, and the guy then calls us all fools and says my sister won't have her license long if she keeps up that shit. I'm sure he NEVER pulled out in front of someone who was going 50 in a 35 before and had to floor it. I'm sure he never gave anyone the finger for anything.

This guy interupts us for anything we say. We can't explain ANYTHING to him! He just says SHUT UP if we open our mouths to explain what happened.

At that point I'm thinking, my dad and stepmom and baby sister are gonna be here for the picnic soon. I hope my dad gets here in time before some serious shit happens. The guy beckons again. GET OUT. Then my brother says I'll call the fucking cops if you say it again. So the guy goes and grabs his phone and is like I'LL FUCKING CALL 'EM! I am thinking "this guy is stupid. The cops are a fucking savior at this point."

So he is pushing the phone in my face like "I'll DO IT!! I'LL CALL THE COPS!" and I am like fine, call.

So the guy keeps yelling "GET OUT GET OUT." My sister says "Why do you want them to get out?" The guys looks dumbfounded. He might have, for one split second, realized what he was doing...

I forgot to mention this bitch was in our face the entire time. At one point, he had his grasp (both hands) on the window at my sister's drivers side. He did the same to Lasereth. Grabbing the fucking car yelling down our faces. Lasreth tells the guy to let go of the fucking car. The guys says no. Lasereth tells the guy to "go the hell away." The guy says he is gonna hurt Lasereth. Lasereth said if he touches him then he is gonna fuck his face up bad. So then it just took one more time.

"GET OUT." So then, all of a sudden, I see my Dad driving up. He was about 1/4 down the road. He has his concealed weapon permit and carries a glock. So I say "you just FUCKED UP. YOU WANT TO PLAY ROUGH?????? YOU FUCKING FUCKD UP!!!!!THAT'S MY FUCKING DAD AND YOU ARE GONNA FUCKING DIE!!!!!!"

(later I figure out by some bystanders across the road that I cuss a lot louder than I realize)

So me and Lasereth get out and I run around the car hands a flailing in fury, cussing up a storm and the guy is like "what, so both of you now?" And we are like "hell yeah. Let's fucking go. Throw a punch."

My Dad pulls up and he looks fucking pissed. The guy is like IS THAT YOUR DAD??? And I am like HELL YEAH IT IS.

My dad rolls down the window and says "what's the problem?" The guy says "ARE THESE YOUR KIDS???"

My Dad says "yeah, what's the matter? Did the cars make contact? Did she hit you? Did you hit her?"

The guys says "no..."

My Dad says "Then LEAVE! What are you doing here? LEAVE. JUST LEAVE! There's no point in you being here! Leave!"

The guys says "Hell no I'm not leaving!" MY Dad says "we have a BABY in the back of my truck here. Watch the language. And leave."

The guys says "naw man I ain't leavin' she don't know how to fuckin' DRIVE!"

My dad TEARS OFF his seatbelt and opens the truck door. I forgot to mention he is 6'6", 375 lbs.

The guys looks at me, Lasereth, and my Dad. My dad YELLS. "LEAVE. NOW. GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY KIDS!!!!!!"

The guy backs up some. He has this "I'm scared shitless" look on his face. He says "Man fuck this I'm callin' the cops."

"CALL 'EM!" my Dad says. So he did. My dad did too. We pulled down into the parking lot more. The cops came, and basically said we shouldn't have flicked the guy off but it was more his fault than ours. That he lost his temper and over-reacted. They were acting like "I can't believe this idiot did this." We all got out without a citation or anything. The police said we shouldn't worry about the guy anymore, ever. They must have said something to him quite serious.

A couple of morals in this story:

1. Even if you are 20 years old, and the guy you are getting ready to fight is 30-40 years old, having a parent in the matter is the most comforting thing in the world. Always treat your parents good (luckily I have) so if situations like this arise, they don't take shit. They back you up no matter what. When my Dad stepped out of the truck (a la Robocop...one foot out, heavy thud on the ground) and that redneck motherfucker stepped back, I felt like thanking God to be alive.

2. Get a fucking concealed permit. This guy, I believe, would have tried to fucking KILL us if my Dad didn't pull up. I looked in his eyes...he looked fucking insane. When I graduate college, I am going to train to get my concealed weapon permit and I WILL carry a gun at all times. *DISCLAIMER* yadaa yadda more violence blah blah....I know. If you know anything about the concealed permits, you know that the gun is the very last resort (a.k.a. he is killing you). I realize that and would abide by it */DISCLAIMER*

3. Road rage is more apparent in small towns than big towns. In the "big town" up the road (30 mins away), you flick them off, they tell you to fuck off, and that's it. In my southern baptist town of Whiteness, they kill you.

4. Don't flick people off.

5. Be confident, but not overly confident. If me and Lasereth wouldn't have kept our cool (while being confident and reassuring of an asswhooping if he tried anything) he would have ran all over us (verbally AND physically).

6. For God's sakes, DON'T BE THAT GUY. It's not worth it! I'd never chase somebody fucking down. What a fucking moron. Now I have to worry if he is gonna slash my tires or something.

7. Don't get in the way of a parent and his kids. At least not my Dad.

Redjake out.

Hmm. Interesting story. Maybe you guys should try taking the high road from now on- forgive and forget.

And yeah, thank god for parents at times.

Yeah, that was a adrenaline-pumping situation. I fucking apologized to the guy and he told me to shut the fuck up and get out. So me and twin RedJake get out...and then he realizes maybe it wasn't a good idea.

I'm really glad that he didn't have a gauge or nine in his truck. Even though my dad is an excellent marksman with his Glock.

Don't be that guy, and don't flick people off. I guess I get a temper from my dad, but I can't stand when people with bigger cars think they own the road.

Ya know, I'm sure it was for the best and all that you two didn't fight him...but man, after a jerk like that harrasses you so much in front of your family, it's occasionally time to lay someone's ass out.

I thought the story was gonna end with big daddy beating the he-holy crap out of him, myself.

It would have ended that way if the guy didn't get back in his truck after my dad got out. The guy ran into his truck after that, though.

The *only* reason I didn't get out sooner was the court issues. Yes, it was his fault, but I'd still have to pay court fees after the cops came. My town is small, and trust me, the whole fucking league of blue lights would have been there in 30 seconds if any of us threw a punch. The whole neighborhood was watching. I have college to pay for, so any extra debts are severely unwelcome.

That's pretty fuckin funny. I gave an old guy the finger once for almost hitting the back of my car during a snowstorm because he wasn't paying attention and he turned out to be a cop. It was fun Got off scott free....

I got pulled over and he comes up to me screaming that he's gonna have me arrested for Misdemeanor Aggravated Assault. I just kinda looked at him funny (cuz he was full if shit), then he takes my licence and sits in his car for -I shit you not- ten SECONDS and he comes back out with this big smile on his face and asks me, "Can we turn this into a positive experience, Jenn?" (He called me JENN!! Only close friends know I like that better than Jennifer) and he hands me back my shit and drives off. To this day, I don't really think he was a real cop.

Hmm, this doesn't sound like a good story to me. I'm seeing a bunch of young punk-asses unnecessarily fuck with someone and get called on it.

How would it look in court if you or a member of your family had to shoot this guy?

You further escalated the situation by flipping the bird. That's not a good idea, ever. Shit, I don't even honk my horn at a dumbass driver, because God knows I don't want to have to shoot anybody over stupid traffic shit.

Be thankful that everyone left alive, and remember that firearms were not designed to resolve traffic disputes.

Neither one of us, or anyone on this thread have said that giving him the bird was a good idea.

A guy almost hits us in his truck, purposely swerves close to us, blows his horn in our face, and then swerves back in front of us. We gave him the bird. It was stupid, but you can't say he couldn't expect it.

How would it look in court if someone in my family had to shoot him? How would it look if he attacked us first? None of us are stupid enough to start anything. The only way my dad would have got out the Glock is if the guy got out a gun himself. None of us suggested we'd use a gun first, anyway. This guy was crazy. He was going to attack us in the next few moments if my dad hadn't pulled up.

I don't have to "remember that firearms are not designed to resolve traffic disputes" because none of us suggested that. If the guy got out a gun, it's no longer a traffic dispute, it's a life dispute. If he got out a gun, I'd get out one if I had it. Again, none of us said we were gonna pull a gun in the first place.

PS: these young punkasses may be immature enough to flip a bird, but he deserved it, and at least we aren't 40 years old and go chasing young adults because of road rage.

your statements are from someone who didn't fucking read the story. I believe this guy might have KILLED us if my dad didn't pull up. He looked like he would. Firearms were not designed to resolve traffic disputes, they were designed to kill a motherfucker who is trying to kill me and my siblings. I'd say someone trying to fucking RAM us off the road constitutes the safety of having a gun with you. I knew people like you would read this a say the exact same thing you said because they didn't think about what happened. It didn't happen to you, so you just put in the mandatory "guns don't solve anything" and "young punk ass" statement.

Don't even fucking insinuate that my dad would shoot someone if they didn't try to kill me. I said twice in the article that he wouldn't have got it out unless the guy tried to kill us. "how would it look in courty if you or a memeber of your family had to shoot this guy?" it would look pretty fucking bad. because this guy had it comin' if my dad shot him. he must have been trying to kill us.

It seems from the description of the incident that you all may be placing a frightening importance on a concealed firearm to get you out of trouble.

"Get a fucking concealed permit. This guy, I believe, would have tried to fucking KILL us if my Dad didn't pull up. I looked in his eyes...he looked fucking insane. When I graduate college, I am going to train to get my concealed weapon permit and I WILL carry a gun at all times. "

The secret to staying out of jail as a legal permit holder is to be easy-going and not sweating the small stuff. I carry a firearm everyday of my life, and I go out of my way to be nice and forgiving. People always piss me off to no end, but I will do absolutely nothing that could foreseeably result in me ending the life of another person, unless there is no choice.

I've seen dead people, and they don't look pretty. I'd have a serious problem with unnecessarily transforming a living person into a nonliving body.

All I'm saying is that next time you should just chill out, especially if you are carrying a firearm. Otherwise, you'd be giving your fellow firearm-owners a bad name, and I would enjoy seeing you on Court TV.

Glad none of you or your family got killed that day.

dude you are preaching to the choir. I already said like three times now that we wouldn't used it unless absolutely necessary. please stop preaching to us about gun safety and how we rely on them too much. thanks. if anyone knows about gun safety, it's me. I've seen dead people too.

my dad didn't even unbuckle the gun from the holster in the truck anyway. he wasn't even close to using it. I'm just saying it was comforting in case this guy fucking stabbed me or something. or SHOT me. there is a difference between an educated gun user and a fucking redneck hick who loves to shoot when he can.

Yeah, big time. Neither one of us said we would shoot the damn guy. Yes, I would rely on a concealed firearm to get me out of trouble. If someone was shooting at you, and you had a concealed gun, would you not use it? We didn't know if that guy was gonna go apeshit and get a 12-gauge out of his truck or what.

You keep suggesting that we were gonna shoot the guy because we simply had a gun. No, we're saying it was good to know that my dad had a Glock in case the psycho guy had a gun. Guns should be used in self defense in a life or death situation, and nothing else. I'm not uneducated on gun safety or gun morals.

Chill-out? Jesus, did you not read the initial post? This guy was starting a fight with us. He was ready to simply fight there in the road. You can't tell a pissed off redneck to chill out. I apologized to him and he told me to fuck off.

I understand about guns...there's no need to keep saying that we don't understand how they shouldn't be used. I know that. We were simply saying that if that guy got a gun out, it's good to know that there was something to do about it in my dad's truck. Would you rather have the psycho guy shoot at us and we die, or him shoot at us and us be able to defend ourselves?

Thus the value of not being a hot headed "I'll tweak out mother fucker! Look at me I'm tough!" is shown clearly. If you were like the average people from around here of that age you probably would've gotten into a stupid conflict where you'd stab each other into submission with pointy pocket contents.

I was in a similar situation, but kinda reversed. There was a VW bug in front of me just driving slow as hell, causing traffic to back up behind it. I wait and wait and finally see a point where I can safely pass the car, so I do. Now, I'm not sure what exactly I did wrong by passing him ... but for some reason he took exception to it and decided to speed up and give me a piece of his mind.

I guess he wasn't a very good driver. Because when he pulled up next to me at a stop sign to chew me out, he rammed my car door. He must have realized his mistake because he pulled away from my car, but not before I got out and gave his little yellow bug a nice hard kick.

As you can imagine I was pretty hot, as well as the 4 passengers in my car who were earlier playing basketball with me. I simply could not let him get away. I chased him down and eventually followed him to a church ... where he got out of his car. I imagine he was about 5'5" and 120 lbs, much smaller than me and my companions ... and he looked very scared.

As I got out to deal with this man, I saw his 3 little daughters inside his car. I'm not sure why, because at that time I wasn't in my kinder stage of life, but the sight of the little girls fearing for their dad's safety extinguished any anger I had. We discussed the situation calmly and he paid for the damgages. As I look back now, having a daughter of my own now, I still feel disgust at myself and ashamed when I picture the little girl's faces. Although it turned out relatively well, it's still something that bothers me.

In the south? As if it is any more dangerous here than anywhere else?

all he was saying is that there are more rednecks in the south that will fucking kill you because you have long hair or something stupid. I'm not ashamed to admit it....we have rednecks here who still are blatant racists and carry shotguns in their vehicles in the back glass of their trucks. while we don't have to worry about thievery, drug dealers (for the most part), gangs, or drive-bys......we have to worry about psycho-fucks like the one in my story. just from what I've heard, it's easier to get to "gun point" in the south than anywhere else. simply because of redneck-ism, uneducation, and ignorance. it's sickening sometimes.

Oh, believe me, I know about rednecks. I too live in NC, and my whole family is from SC--I have seen and dealt with my share of rednecks. And yeah, they do tend to be a little... lets just say ignorant. But I dont think that the south is any more dangerous than anywhere else, especially to the point of needing to carry a weapon when you cross the Mason-Dixon line. Thats just goddamn absurd.

I agree with you Sailor. It is absurd. But if people like this who are giving our great state a bad name keep doing shit like this, it's very tempting to carry a weapon. It's pathetic and horrible, but I mean damn...what if my dad wouldn't have pulled up? Then what.....it's just scary thinking about it.

Hmm. At supper tonight my parents mentioned that we could press charges if we wanted to, since he did in fact threaten us verbally AND physically (trying to ram us). I never thought about that part of the incident, but we easily could. That would get the motherfucker back. That would definitely set him in his place. I doubt it'd be worth the trouble but it'd make him think twice about trying to fucking hurt someone for something trivial.

my thoughts exactly. I always wave and act like clueless to idiots in traffic too. nothing gets there goat better. btw only one question for you guys, if you say there are tons of psycho's in your parts, why did you shoot the finger? is it common for people to act this way? (trying to ram you) after shooting the finger, or is it just the long hair type things that bring out the freaks?

I'd SO do that.

I doubt he knows what a computer is, and, replying to the person who asked why we stuck the middle finger out if my area had a lot of these psychos.....I guess our area doesn't really have a LOT of these types of people, but it definitely has one I guess what I am trying to say is that now I know that these people exist and are out there. Whether the abundance is greater in my town than any other town is not for me to judge I reckon.

Last time I flipped a guy off, we fought with each other across the state of North Carolina on i85. The little shit had some crappy Pontiac TransAm and I was in my Tacoma.

I kid you not, my temper kicked in, and he was some shitheaded SlimShady look-alike -- I was *NOT* backing down.

We were using high beams and slow moving semi's to piss the other person off. There was another shitbrick in an s10 with the word "RePass" on his truck that would do whatever it took to, you guessed it, repass whatever passed him. What a fucking tool...

That was a horrible trip.

Good story RedJake and Lasereth. I have been in a few similar situations before. The problem is, sometimes, my temper gets the best of me before reason does. Especially when someone puts my life in jeopardy because they drive like a fucking asshat! Both times I had a confrontation, I did give the fiunger but it was a knee-jerk reaction to them doing something really stupid on the road that caused me to swerve and almost wreck.

The last time this happened was about 1 1/2 years ago. I was getting off the freeway, turning left at a light to enter a two lane road. Some guy in the truck behind me decided I was going too slow so before I could even get on the road when the light turned green, he peeled out to the side of me, jams in front of me, then cuts me off. First, it was 6am and no traffic on the road so there was really no need to be driving that fast. Second, I wasn't hindering him in any way. So, my finger flips up after he cut me off and I can see that he notices from the eyes in the rear view mirror. I can see that this pisses him off because he suddenly becomes more erratic.

Anyway, not to threadjack.....
He waits for me to turn into a shopping center then follows me in and slams on the brakes next to me. I knew it was on and I am not the type that is afraid of someone's idle threats. He comes at me saying "What the fuck is your problem asshole?!?" I asked in a calm way if that made him feel like a "real" man to drive like that. He said he was going to kick my ass and I told him that after he throws his first punch, I will press charges for assault, then I would promptly beat the shit out of him. I asked him if that would make him feel like a man too. He backed off and drove away.

Granted I would never recommend my tactics, but sometimes my temper gets a hold of a situation before my ability to reason does.
