OK, now Soda's out of the question.....
OOPS- this probably should be moved to Health.
Studies have come to a conclusion that drinking too much soda can lead to cancer........ LINKY Quote:

I'm just going to go ahead and say that too much of anything is a bad thing ;)
Moderation ... plain and simple. |
Haven't had a soda in years, but I probably drink a 1/2 gallon of coffee a day - glad to see there's a benefit to it.
|
I'm going back into my stasis bubble now.
Next time I wake up someone will have found nutritional value to sodas. |
Cancer isn't so bad compared to morbid obesity. Which by the way, is the funniest word ever.
Morbidly obese. *giggle* |
Life leads to death. Period. We all gonna die of something.

and we scratched our heads collectively WTF? .... but on a real note... crap. I get all the soda I can drink here at the office. each floor has a soda fountain right next to the coffee maker. |
So what's the secret then? Drink beer? Any proof that beer is bad for you?

Lord. I'm gonna die.
Oh wait, I already knew that. :-P |
I hate to be so cynical about cancer, but everything seems to cause cancer.
|
Yay to soda *finishes 3rd dr. pepper today.* I'll take this "study" with a grain of salt. I'm sure there's some study that say not drinking soda causes disease X and drinking soda prevents disease Y. Drinking soda while doing jumping jacks causes disease Z and shrinks your nads. You can't win. Drink and eat what you want. You only live once.
|
Meh, i don't drink that much as it is. But I might try to cut back abit. Actually I probably won't. But maybe I can use this to sound smart sometime..
|
I think its funny how this report includes almost no useful information on the research methods or results. The intro is also misleading because it makes it seem as if there is causation somewhere in this research when there is not. I mean seriously, all these guys have found is that esophogeal cancer rates have risen and soda intake has risen as well and they get funded for this stuff. I am beginning to feel sad about where cancer research is going.
|
I quit drinking it because it makes me swell up. If I drink 2 cans I will swell up by like 5 pounds... it's messed up, so I quit.
|
Good Gawd man... what in the hell doesn't cause cancer anymore?
Next stop they're gonna tell us that breathing or having sex or swimming or something else is gonna cause cancer! Here's to an early exit. I'm not stopping drinking soda for this stupid report! |
Dead man walking... dead man walking on the Green Mile, walking with Coke in his hands... delicious black gold... the essence of good and evil in a single beverage... affordable... sugar laden... Coke...
I can think of worse ways to die... |

This just in: Being alive greatly increases your risk of cancer.
I'd rather be eaten alive by my own mutated cells than by something like Alzheimer's. People need to stop being so paranoid and uptight about what's going to give them cancer. What's the point in living your life if you run away form what makes it enjoyable? If you want to reduce your risk of cancer, go live in a bubble. Then I'll point and laugh as your plastic bubble outgasses carcinogenic fumes. |
I wounder if I can get a grant from the goverment to do a study on how liveing can cause death.

I saw that article and just laughed. Of course, drinking too much of something with a lot of chemicals in it will cause cancer.
I don't think the study necessarily related the right cause and effect. It simply states that as soda consumption increased, so did cancer. Americans have been exposed to so much more than just soda in the past couple of decades, so the increased risk of cancer could have come from anywhere - not just soda. |
I feel that the risk of becoming obese is much greater than cancer from drinking too much soda. And more dangerous as well.
Also, genetics plays such a large role in your lifespan that drinking a ew too many cans of pop won't make a noticable difference. I hear stories of 110 year old men who smoked for 60 years and drink to this day, and of 60 year old health addicts dying of stroke or cardiac arrest. Enjoy your coke. Try not to drink more than 5 a day (I would try to stick with 1). Take things in moderation- they will have more value individually and collectively when supped, or used. |
** Being alive greatly increases your chances of death **
Nothing will scare me from Diet Mt Dew. : / |
Drinking too much water can give you water intoxication
|
So what about if we mix alcohol with our soda? Then we get the benefits of the alcohol to counteract the harm of the soda, right? Nothing but rum-cokes for me from now on!
By the time they prove me wrong I'll already be dead! |

Listening to the news about "the shocking finds of what is in the water you drink!!"
If there's so much bad shit in our "drinking" water... I'll take my chances with coke. Hopefully all the chemicals that are gonna kill us, will kill all the little critters in the water they use to make the soda with? |

Yep dear ones - it's true, so do what you want, oh yeah, in moderation though. :) Hah, who cares anymore anyhow - spin that wheel of Karma! |
Not a real shocker.. soda isnt really good for you anyways.. the diet sodas are even worse than most regular sodas. drink water or juice if you want to be healthier.
