Ordering Flowers (Mother's Day)
Well, it's mother's day, and my mother and father are currently road-tripping across country, and I believe on Sunday they will be in Tuesday (I hope now), I hate national flower store chains (ie. FTD), so I called a small shop in Tucson, and ordered through them, to be delivered to my mom at the address my dad gave me.
Course came the time to write out the card for my mother, and while the lady on the phone sat there waiting I found myself getting nervous. Sure, I can climb on top of the back of the statue of the town's founder in proud daylight and urinate off the back of the horse onto the street without shame, but when it comes to expressing affection through a complete stranger I had to pause. I like short and sweet, and a bit cheesy. Eventually I just let roll "I love you more than words or flowers can say, thank you mom, Happy Mother's Day!", the girl on the other end chippered up, and said "that's sweet". Anyone else get this awkward feeling? What are you fellow TFPers doing for your Mother's on this special day? |

Flowers from 800-Flowers (I get about a bazillion airline miles for ordering thru them) and a card. If I feel like getting a speech about how I fucked up my life, and how I'll never be as good as my sibling, and it's so wrong that I don't care about my family, then I'll call - I'll see how masochisitic I am feeling on Sunday. I may just go play golf

she is 92 and seems to be comfortable in a nurseing home 1400 miles away...I wired flowers (african violets) which she loves...
will see her in October. It does not take much at that age...just being remembered is what counts.. |
