how often do you lie?
lately i've found myself lying about stupid things to everyone. i'm usually not a liar, but for the past couple days, that's what i've been doing. Not lies that play heavily on the conscience, like murdering someone and denying it, but small ones, like saying you didn't leave the tv on when you clearly know you did. And making up stories--especially to my kid brother. those are some of the lies i've told lately.
|
You are definitely going to hell.
Just messing with you. I lie sometimes just to see if the person I am lying to will believe it. They are usually pretty big lies though. Like trying to convince someone that the pope just said it is now ok to be gay or that the mars rover found intelligent life. |
never (lie)
all the time (also a lie) the truth is I can't really tell you. |
Probably much more often than I should. Basically all the time, either to avoid punishment or to mislead people for fun or profit.
|
Well, back when I was the dictator of a small island nation, I would cut off the tongues of anyone that I caught committing a falsehood.
When I moved into my 50 acre estate in LA, I naturally couldn't behave like that anymore. Thus, I became govenor. After a successful run, I left to become a recluse in a shack in Wyoming. It is there that I still live today.... |

I work in a call center in customer service... all the damn time.

I don't keep track. I try not to but sometimes a lie is needed at the moment.
|
I used to have a huge lying problem as a child. I'd lie to make up a more interesting story. Now, I seem to 'embellish facts' occasionally. Or, I'll lie to get myself out of doing something. I'd have to say I probably lie several times on a daily basis .. but for the most part its to save my own ass, or to make sure the person I'm lying to isn't hurt.
Example: Friend X talks shit to me about Friend Y. Friend Y asks what shit was talked.. I'll make it far less severe. I won't lie and say they said NOTHING, but I won't tell them the full truth. |
Never.
|
I always tell the truth.
I am lying. |
Lying is fun.
|
All the time. Little white lies out of boredom. Sometimes to see if the other person will believe them.

Revelations 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." Don't be a liar!!!!!!111oneone I used to lie a lot about small things and then I found that people found me less trustworthy so I quit it. |
I try not to lie about anything, but sometimes you got to do what you got to do. If you lie, you have to remember what you said for at least 3 years, and I can't frickin' remember last night, let alone 3 years ago. Getting caught in a lie is the worst. My sister on the other hand, she lies about the damn weather outside.

The reason I tell the truth is bacause it makes me stronger.
The reason I don't lie is because it makes me weaker. Seems like a no-brainer. |
I strive to be truthful. I'll be it, sometimes the truth is "softened" for the sake of the other human being -- but it is the truth none-the-less. (That dress is great for you, mom.) Having lived with a lier for 11 years, I know just how painful it can be and how consistent lying breaks down trust.
|
There are a couple of problems with habitual lying:
- You have to keep track of the lies you told and the more you tell the harder this is. - People catch on and start questioning you when you are telling the truth. - The more you lie, the easier it becomes. So I try very hard not to lie, even when it would make my life a little easier and chances are I won't get caught. |
I am not a good enough liar to do it. My memory is swiss cheese, so what little I have I have to use to keep my head on strait. =p I avoid mentioning things, yes, but I can't keep lies strait: hell, I can't keep what actually happens strait half the time!
For simular reasons (damn memory), if someone tends to lie, I can't be bothered to remember exactly how and why that person lies. I simply try to remember "X lies", and don't trust any statement they make again. Doesn't mean they are a bad or worse person, just means their word becomes worthless to me. That is, if I can remember they are a liar, *sigh*. One of my oldest friends is in this category: he's a good person, he just is comfortable not telling the truth. |
I always tell the truth.....even when I lie I tell the truth
|
I almost never lie. In fact, the only time I lie is when it's for a good cause such as for a suprise birthday party or something similar. I cannot stand being lied to by people, it's rediculous.
*Please don't mind my small rant because I just got dumped in a 5 1/2 year relationship and she lied about lots of things. Oh well. |

I dont lie very often at all, i find i dont need to, just handle telling the truth and accepting the concequences. It usually seems worse than it is when you feel you have to tell a lie. People also think better of you, in my opinion, its good to be honest :)
Although, playing a lighthearted joke i feel is ok and not true lying, as long as they understand later and hopefully laugh its not the same "feel" to it, your not decieving them about anything important. |
I lie to my nieces and nephew sometimes.
Their jokes aren't that funny. |
sometimes...you just gotta lie.

the truth is the best.
i don't want to be lied to by you, so in turn i won't lie to you. |
I think that there are a few situations where lying can make life a little easier. I never lie about important things though.
|
I have an unnatural talent for lying and for seeing through other people's lies (to my face that is)... which is indeed a double edged sword. Sometimes it happens all too naturally, and i catch myself and i'm like "what am i saying?!?!?!"

in private i usually don't lie. But sometimes I don't tell everything, I keep unpleasant parts for myself and I try not to hurt others feelings. So I don't know if this counts as "lie" |

Point is, everyone has lied, and will likely do so again. The level of deciet is where I take issue. I am just waiting for the inevitable "I don't lie" post , so I can call them a liar. |
My word is my bond.
If you've ever heard the expression "wears his heart on his sleeve", and you understand it, then you know a lot about me. I am a very open and honest person. "Honey, do these pants make me look fat?" "No, dear. It's not the pants, it's the extra 20 pounds you're carrying on your ass." I know. I'm a real pain in the ass to live with. |
I'm lying to you now.
(So much for sophomore logic tricks) I lie when I need to. When I don't, it's just too much work to make it work. All in all, I would say that I am more honest than the average, because "need to" doesn't cover most white lies, and I am generally clever enough to tell the truth in such a way as to leave it open to the interpretation that the listener expects, regardless. (I think there would be a place for me in the Bush administration if it weren't evil.;)) |
I try not to lie, but sometimes its the 'better' of the options available.
Brutal honesty does no-one a hell of a lot of good all of the time. Of course, I embellish as a matter of course. |
i dont lie about important things because it is to hard to keep track of lies. that and sometimes the truth is more fun... i am sure i lie about things though. just dont really know what.
|
As often or as rarely as needed. Never in regards to something major, usually just the small stuff. I hate to offend when it is really not necessary. I also used to work in a hotel, and frankly I lied all the time - never put your trust in a front desk clerk. I have lied and I will lie again - so have most of us. (I acutally think it is all of us, but some people really seem to believe they don't ever do it, so I will just let it slide.)
|
There is a difference in my opinion between lying and bending the truth like the fact that sometimes its necessary for a lie for small things but I hate liers in a relationship I'd never lie in a relationship I was having. I've been lied to in a relationship and hate that. I would much rather someone just come right out and tell me what someone said or did than have to find out myself.
|
I don't lie... I just embellish stories.
|
Big lies, like "I did not have sexual relations..." I never tell.
Little lies, like "I was not the last person to drink the coffee..." eh, once every two or three days. |
I think its normal to give little lies, i wouldn't lie if someone else was in danger, but a lie for a late work that i handed to the teacher or the price of shoes that i purchased, is not big deal.
