Buying eye glasses online?

took my annual eye exam todqay, and my vision is really going downhill. Reading is fine, but anything beyond 20 feet is blurry. I was going to buy some nice frameless ones, until the guy told me they'd be 300 bucks, and those were the cheapest ones he had! The insurance onky covers anything that resembles grandma's glasses. I was wodnering if thre is a place online where I can order some nice ones? I have the prescription, although i am not sure what it means, maybe I can fill it out online and get perfect glasses?

I am also thinking of getting a flat screen PC monitor, since I spend most of my day staring at the PC. Should it help relieve the strain on the eyes?

i wouldn't recommend buying them online, mainly because you want to be able to try them on and see how they look on you. if you get them and then decide they look dumb then you have to wait and dealwith the hassle of returning them. and it might not be the place to get best deal. but it's your choice.

I've looked a lot. There really isn't any place I've seen to order cool glasses frames online.

I'm talking with an optometrist near me about starting such a site (I'm an e-commerce developer).

I ordered my glasses online.

Tried on the frames (in a different color) at the optometrist, (after doing some looking around online already) and then found an online shop that *had* the frames in the right colour (Gucci frames), and ordered my glasses from them.
Cost about half the price I would've paid at the optometrist.
The company I ordered them from happened to be local to the area I was in at the time, so I was able to call there before ordering because I had a couple questions. Great customer service.
I had to have something additional besides the prescription, some measurement of pupil distance I think? I got that done free some other place.

I dunno, I guess I got lucky.

I can vaguely recall having vision that good, must have been 1986 or so since my eyes were at that point.
Clear vision for me with my naked eyes (as in reading) is right in front of my nose where it gets in the way turning pages.

and to actually "contribute" to this thread in an on-topic fashion, I never have tried any kind of online ordering methods. My last pair was $350 or so if memory serves; my prescription is high enough where they get expensive.
