You are not old.....(41 here) you are just a pup.
Get off the weed, get off the booze, make something of your self. Then when you have set yourself up you can buy better weed and more booze. BTW, it is a good thing to know what you want to do of an evening. I find that people that are comfortable with themselves enjoy life more. IMO - drop the weed and see the world through different eyes.

Sure, enjoy a smoke now and again, but don't make a lifestyle out of it. Potheads are just so... boring I guess. Personally, I think drugs are fine but don't use them as a crutch. And this comes from a guy who used to have a several hundred dollar a week coke habit, so I know the drug scene. So, enjoy yourself tonight. But try not to make it the same EVERY Friday! Oh, and you're not old. Trust me. I'm 34 and I feel like a kid most of the time... Mr Mephisto |

that's not getting old,
getting old is (I am 42) saturday night, 8pm, sipping Villa Maria with my wife, just cuddling on the couch with the woman whom I have ended up marrying whom used to be 22 yr old and way out of my league whom had been incredible in putting up with me for a last x number of long years, also I am glad that my daughter is sleeping over at a friend so I don't have to deal with her teenager attitude... getting old is haven't used any hair styling product for several years now since my hair line is thinning out, getting old is I have more money now but it meant less for me... It'll take you a long time to get there. Don't worry.

No need for the sarcasm. Secondly, you brought up the reference to drugs. Two people (myself included) simply said don't spend too much time on drugs, but enjoy yourself now and don't worry about getting old. We shouldn't have bothered. To be honest, due to your attitude and reaction to our friendly concern for your welfare, I really couldn't give a shit if you smoke pot all day and waste your fucking life. It's obviously a sensitive subject for you. Smoke all you want. Spend as many Fridays in as you want. Just don't burden us with pathetic requests for self-justification and reaffirmation. /pissed mode Mr Mephisto |

"Get off the weed, get off the booze, make something of your self."
"Potheads are just so... boring I guess." Friendly concern, huh. I mean, I appreciate the sentiment, but I just get sick and tired of seeing all these threads on TFP between the pro-drug and anti-drug factions where the anti-drug folks are are always saying 'stoners are all losers with no friends, no job, no money and no prospects', which is blatantly untrue. I guess I figured that was where you were headed, when a drugs debate wasn't the idea of this thread at all. It wasn't a "pathetic request for self-justification and reaffirmation", it was an attempt to share my plans for a Friday night and to find out what other people who were staying in were doing. My bad. |

Want to feel young?
Ok. First, instead of starting counting 'how long' when you where born, start counting when you where actually half-intelligent and able to make decisions. Say, 22. Now, assume some life-extending technology shows up in the next pile of years, so you'll live to 100 or so before keeling over and going *splat*. That means, you've lived (24-22) / 78 = 2.6% of your life. You are just getting started! =)

i'll tell ya a true story...
this lady, maybe in her 80's, came into my shop a while back and bought her grandson some baseball packs... she left leaving her purse behind... she returned to get her purse and left the stuff she bought behind... she returned mumbling something about her memory and i said that since turning 50 i find myself forgetting things too... she replied, "well, young man, when you put your bra on thinking it's a girdle, you may have a problem." You are only as old as you feel.
I just turned 22, and I'm already pretty bored with the college/towny bar scene. I spend the vast majority of my friday nights hanging out with my girlfriend or heading out lake to catch some catfish. Maybe to some of my friends it means I am getting old and boring, but if that's the case, I'm rather enjoying it.

Hey flamingdog, you asked what the fuck is wrong with you and seemed perplexed at your situation, so Mephisto told you the truth, so lighten up.
Just out of cuiousity, are you listening to Dark Side of the Moon? Because if you are, you are definitely way too fucked up on pot. If on the other hand you are listening to the Wall, you are probably still ok and there is hope for you. It all depends on just what floyd you are listening too. I bet it's Dark Side of the Moon. oh, and you aren't really old till you start growing hair on your ears! |

Spending time alone as a way to relax doesn't make you a loser, it just means the way you recuperate is by spending time alone. The technical term is an introvert, and it's not a negative connotation. I myself am an introvert.
Do what you like. That's all there is to it.

I see nothing wrong with preferring a night in over "going out" just for the sake of not seeming old. Hell I'm 33 and I'd rather stay in most nights.
LOL, just a few weeks ago I was having dinner at a friend's house, and after a little smoking she got a little silly and had an urge to make some coffee. While making it, she turns to me and says "Look, it's 10:30 on a Saturday night and we're making coffee. We're old."

There's nothing wrong with being able to relax and chill out at home.Learning to enjoy and treasure your alone time is essential
in having a good life.I'd worry more if you had a constant "need" to be with others in order to have fun. Btw,I'm enjoying my favorite time of the day now,the rest of the family is sleeping,I just had a relaxing soak in the tub and am sipping my coffee and posting peacefully for an hour before I go to work.Alone time is vital to a healthy adult! |
