Why TFP Is Cool
I think I've finally figured out why TFP is the coolest forum ever created:
Jack-asses, post-count whores, and immature people are either warned or banned without question. The mods on these forums (although a little over-zealous sometimes) do a great job at filtering out The Shit. The reason I keep coming back here is because I can rest assured that if someone makes rude, hateful, disrespectful, or smartass comments, they will be taken care of Thanks guys! TFP 4 Life

Here Here!
I was posting on another forum, but recently gave it up. People where posting so much garbage, and starting fights about everything.

Well, seeing as how I'm the first Mod/Admin to read this...
Thank you. It means a lot to read something that says we are doin' a good job and not just another post about how Hal is like Hitler and we are his SS. Yes, we really do get comments saying we are a bunch of Nazis. And last I checked... I haven't killed anyone yet. But thank you for the kind words.

yeah, this place is pretty cool. and new people are made to feel at 'home', or something like that. another forum i used to visit made newbs out to be the scourge of the earth, unless they got like 500000000000 posts per minute per second. and even though i wasn't new, i still couldn't stand it.
...nope. don't see nuthin' like that here. which is good to know

First, thanks very much for all the good words, it means a lot.
We all love new people, and we feel as though everyone should. How else can we make new friendships but to have new people? New people give us new perspectives, new ideas, and the introduction of another unique opinion is invaluable in any discussion. We do a lot to try and make sure the new members are taken care of, so they can feel welcomed and comfortable, and learn and grow with the rest of us. Some come in and are assholes right off the bat. They don't last long. The TFP is a community, we don't tolerate people who disrespect the community by acting inappropriately. The only time I think you see something as being overzealous is when the person has a history. What you see as us snapping at someone, is actually a person with a long, well-known and documented past of behavior, and we get tired of people shitting on the TFP in such a way. We can only say, "please stop doing that" so many times before frustration sets in. We're all human, after all. Thanks again, we're all glad you love the place, and I hope you continue to love it for a long time! -analog. |

I went out of town for a few days, and I can honestly say I had TFP withdrawal symptoms. I love this site. I love all of the Mods and Admins (Even though I've run into my fair share of warnings), they do their job well I visit a few other forums on occasion, but they don't have the structure that TF does. That is why this forum has earned my utmost respect.

TFP is so cool that I have an offical TFP monkey on my back. If I don't get to check in every now and again I start to shake and slobber.
It's not pretty. Well, that, and the fact that only the BEST folks are members and MODs.

I initially came here just because I heard about some nude pictures that I might want to see, then I found out I actually had to post something with content. By the time I got to be a member and got past my trial period I found I was posting relatively quality stuff and that the subject matter on the board was much more open than other places I visit. It has become an Internet "home" for me.

i forget why i joined, but i know that effective moderation is one of the main reasons why i have stayed as long as i have.
most of all, TFP is cool (IMHO) because of the loyal following that it garners from so many. it adds a new dimension to read a post from someone that you've seen on another board. i love duking it out w/some of you on the Politics and Philosophy boards all the while we're agreeing and sharing on the Gaming and Music forums. anyway, thanks to all who bring us TFP. I hope I've contributed as much as I've been given.

Because even in the midst of heated politics, you can have threads like this:
Congress vs. Supreme Court A specific quote from said thread: Quote:
I love TFP for the people on here... genuinely ask for advice, and people will give it to ya - and not just what they think you want to hear. Sometimes tough love is neccesary

Same story here. Came around a few years back for the adult boards, and completely ignored the rest. Started out on the Tilted Canada board awhile back, and was utterly knackered that the members were not utter and complete knobs. From lurker to member. And it is the mods who keep it from decaying into the utter cesspool of waste that has become 99% of the other boards on the net. And to think, I've not been to the adult boards in ages. Wait, that's because my wife moved her computer next to mine....

I think this place fosters the ability for posters and mods/admin alike to be themselves and say how it it they really feel on subjects. It is this openness of both personality and mind that allow actual relationships to be formed in spite of differing ideas and backgrounds.

You know, I started off with a post like "Yeah, TFP is great", but I tried to get original and witty... And then it just sounded so friggin' weird and made no sense in this thread. So taking out all the different points in my train of thought in how I got to this, I decided to just post the end result.
"If only Arkham asylumn had Dr. Phil in it."

Migrating from the Guitar.com boards the TFP was a huge change.
...Come to think of it, I really can't recall any time someone has responded to a post with "STFU N00B!" or "Who teh hell is this nub?".
