Amerika by Franz Kafka “As Karl Rossman, a poor boy of sixteen who had been packed off to America by his parents because a servant girl had seduced him and got herself a child by him, stood on the liner slowly entering the harbour of New York, a sudden burst of sunshine seemed to illumine the Statue of Liberty, so that he saw it in a new light, although he had sighted it long before. The arm with the sword rose up as if newly stretched aloft, and round the figure blew the free winds of heaven.” |

I'm just surprised this hasn't happened before.
Guess the script-kiddies mentality finally invaded the more serious troublemakers too. /me is gonna start looking into serious firewalling and AV-aps. There's money in that sector I tells ya

Once they get caught they don't get
punished, they get big contracts from all the anti virus program writers. Norton, panda, mcafee, ect to turn from evil side to the good side!

I run bareback on the net, no AV or firewalls at all, and I haven't gottena virus since Nimda, and the only reason I got that was infected webservers sent it to me thru a shittily secured browser (IE). Viruses only happen to ppl who don't pay attention to what's coming in IMO, or are too trusting with attachments. I won't open an attachment unless the person has sent me a PM or email that they're going to do so before hand, what it is and the filesize. I also only accept attachments from trusted ppl. I've not gotten a virus in over 2 years.

It also sounds like the guys is very much in favor of govt. control of the internet, so they can "protect" us from such things. All while knowing every damn thing i do. Liberty or liability, i suppose is the begged question.

Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-à-vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V." - V |

What "business" are they referring to? Could it be that the virus detection community is involved in ensuring their own prosperity? Or is the anti-IE crowd involved? Linux? SCO? Somebody is making money off of this whole thing, I think. There has to be a whole lot more going on than rival pimple-pusses being vicious for fun. My inherent paranoia doesn't disqualify these feelings. I surf defensinvely with good reason.

I'm still working on a 3-phase modem that can send a 7200 volt packet to virus writers. If I can just get the amps down.....

computer systems, infecting them with viruses, and stealing materials for their own ends. These people, they are terrorists." Heh... so awesome.

By intangibles, she meant the Internet, movies, music, stories, art, rumors, computer programs, anything that isn't real. Virtual realities. Make-believe stuff. The culture. The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because it's only the intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die." |
