I usually do something good rather than give something up. This year I am trying to fast every friday . Not just no red meat but no food at all for 24 hours. I got the idea from this link:
http://www.30hourfamine.org/Display.asp?Page=Home I am contributing the money that I would spend on food on those days to a local woman who gives formula and baby food to the children of abused women. The way I figure it, no good can come out of my giving up pepsi, but some good will hopefully come from this.

I am Catholic. I'm giving up Sex (for more reasons than just to give something up for lent), Pop, skipping class, and I'm also going to try to improve myself by studying and paying attention in class (well that mya just be improving my grades rather than myself, but getting better grades will make me a happier person thats for sure). Good luck to everyone else who is trying to give something up or improve themselves in some way( for any reason not just lent)

I think I need to give up procrastination for Lent.
(altho I'm not 'catholic'..I was raised one, so I do identify with it more than any other 'religion'..) anyways, self-improvement is a good thing, and I sure could use some. Seems a fair opportunity.

I'm not Catholic, but I've been practising Lent for a couple of years now. The first year I gave up alcohol, and last year I tried cigarettes with an hour of meditation a day but I failed on the smoking part of it.
This year I'm giving up orgasms entirely. Not just masturbation, but sex and all its components. Plus the hour of meditation daily.
