stupid AT&T "come together" ad
 

Is anyone else bothered when this commercial comes on? I dont know if it's the cheesy music, or the creepy split-faces, but I can't stand it. I find myself flipping the channel every time it comes on.

I can't figure out why it's so repulsive. And AT&T is obviously spending a bunch to air it really frequently. It's having the opposite effect. I will avoid their services altogether, b/c these ads are so repugnant. I wonder how much they tested this before running with it.

Is anyone else turned off by this AT&T ad?

Are there any other ads, like the one mentioned in this Quizno's thread, that are equally misguided? (those retarded Microsoft Office "great moments" commercials notwithstanding)....

You know what bugs me about this ad?

The fact that they never put a black face and a white face together. That pisses me off.

Ads in general bug me -- so of course this one does as well. (Although I admit I like the woman playing volleyball in the snow advertising the summer olympics.)

I was thinking about starting a thread like this.

My annoying ad is the ppl dancing the Diarrhea Song for Pepto Bismol. They are just too happy to act like morons.

BTW I just saw that ATT ad and there was a black face with a white one, but yeah that ad sucks too.

Creepy....I just changed the channel for dislike of the commerical on the tv as I clicked on my TFP bookmark and wandered into this forum...

Yeah, the only thing that bothers me about that commercial is the fact that you can noticably hear every Asian person when they come on the screen. Not that race matters, I just noticed that I always notice the asian voice over the others.

Why does that bother you, is it not "PC" enough? Just my .02, but why does every single ad on TV have to be totally engrossed in this new "multi-culturalism" fad. It is wearing really thin, really quick.

I don't like it, it both creeps me out and for some reason reminds me of the scene in Magnolia where everyone is singing... which also kinda creeps me out.

I also hate the commercial for the overactive bladder medication. "Gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now." Not only is it annoying, but that damn song gets stuck in my head.

The whole commercial sort of implies that world peace and racial harmony can be achieved simply when we all use the same phone company. Thank the gods AT&T is that phone company. :rolleyes:

Have you seen the commercial where the little "britney" clone is making her personalized stuff bear. It's a nice commercial but that little girls' singing is well.....it's not pretty and that's the nicest way to say that.

And when did "brown" become the hip way to say "U.P.S.?" They carry packages. They don't need a hip new nickname to get my business, they just need to deliver the damn package when I want them to.

I too hate that AT&T commercial, I can't say why it bothers me, it just does. There is definently a weird trend in especially annoying commercials going on right now.

any ad with music in it bugs me, more and more each time I see it. Getting a stupid song stuck in my head does not make me want to buy diarrhea medication or a new phone plan.

Agreed. The insistance that "white" ads and "white" shows include black people routinely is ridiculous. Let the creators create what they want for chrissakes. I don't see a whole lot of white people on Martin, Steve Harvey, or Fresh Prince, btw. The door swings both ways.

I miss most ads with my TiVo, but I just stopped and rewound to see that Quiznos ad that everyone hates. Yup, I hate it now as well.

Before seeing the other thread thanking you, those two words [Thank you] appeared in my head. I agree with you completely. It seems like there's a "Ethnicity quota" that has to be met.

Actully, there probably is, due to PC advocation/bitching. Just like the unsaid fact that companies basically Have to hire a certain percentage of each minority, just for the sake of [useless] PC.

I haven't seen the Ad but but I have the prejudice that anything AT&T does is screwed up. They've screwed me and several others of my family and friends. Their customer service sucks unless you got a phone number to a higher up. I have dealt with them for 3 years trying to straighten out a screw up they caused. Sorry I know that had nothing to do with the Ad except who it was for. I just had to rant. Thanks

I couldn't agree more about how much I hate that shit. If you create a show that is centered around race and geared toward a certain race then you're only adding fuel to the fire. I can see where they were trying to go with all this BET..bullshit but now it just makes them look like hypocrites.

That's a whole 'nother side to the coin. I'm not even going to begin to delve into the socio-political bullshit involved with talking about this subject but I'll suggest you look at the whole situation objectively instead of just judging what you see.

I really hate any fast food commercial - especially Mc Donalds Commercials. They boast about how good their food is but in most cases their dirty food is just pre cooked and deep fried fat that's just been slapped together the second you order it. I'm a fan of quick food but it seems like evey Mc Donalds I go to they're just lazy now - they're supposed to be "America's Favorite Fries" but they're fucking disgusting every time I eat them.

Those Verizon commercials as a bitch as well - you know JEJ couldn't dance like that since he was Darth Vader and what's with using black empowerment songs just to sell some fucking cell phones?

Hate it or not, the commercial succeeded. It's the ad company's job to make commercials that stick to you, and sometimes that means they will be commercials that you hate.
