Seeing the solution

I was playing games after games of freecell and some of my friends who watch me were amazed at how fast I was solving it. I have streak of 31 winnings. They were complaining about how hard the game is and how they think that I could see the solution.

Sometimes I think I can see the solution or how the pieces of the game fall into its place. But I couldn't understand how I could do such thing like that...

Are you a solution seeker (lack of better word) or someone who has to take the time to solve something?

EDIT: I felt the same when it comes to programming. Whenever I see a problem, I see the solution right away.

I like Freecell too, and I'm fairly good at it. I can't say that I immediately see complete solutions from the beginning, but I usually see good moves that will open up some possibilities - partial solutions I guess. Breaking a problem down into manageable "sub-problems" is a technique that I use in a lot of troubleshooting and problem-solving situations.

*edit*

Sometimes, however, I can instantly see the solution to a problem. Usually, it's a result of experience and knowing how things work.

Hey! I'll see solutions...if it means I get to hang with Jennifer Connely!

Oh no, wait....I won't.

But I'll do it if I can hang with Minx!

Freecell is just a matter of understanding the game. Those who are amazed are the ones that don't take the time to learn.

Oh, and leave poor John Nash alone. It's not his fault he's a crazy fek. Besides, anybody that gets Miss Connelly is a winner in my book. =Þ

If you like seeing solutions, you should try the card game "Set" - it's all about recognizing patterns.

I've tried playing that games many times before, and I just can't understand it no matter how many times I try. Plus, I suppose that I can be really stubborn and impatient at times, so I don't think that I would be very good at it anyways...

I play Solitaire...I can handle that!

I like to figure out the way the game works so that I can always find the answer, just like you're saying feelgood. It kind of makes the game a little less enjoyable, but it's a great feeling when you figure it out and can impress your friends.

I like playing Freecell. I dont see a solution all the time I have gone on streaks of 10 to 15 wins in a row and also have finished off quite a few games in under 2 minutes just because the boards were easy. The longest game I had played was about 5 minutes I think.

I don't like to just sit and stare at the layout of the freecell game and figure out where all the cards should fall in place, I just try to look 3 or 4 moves ahead to ensure that the moves I make are going to be the right one.

I felt the same for checkers and chess too. I tried to teach the "see 3/4 moves ahead" to my family but they just can't seem to beat me at checker/chess...

I am that way with Chess although my ability is to recognize opponents moves/traps/sets before they get very far into them. I myself am a very poor offensive player in chess but sometimes I feel like i could defend almost any attack and send the game into a draw. I feel like I can see the moves they will be doing as a pattern on the board.

Eeeck!!

I have a bad memory concerning freecell.
I had it on my cell phone, whilst traveling, got lost in it, run my battery dead, and was left with no way to text or call anybody, or for them to text/call me. I was bummed out and bored as hell for almost a whole day and a half.

Relevant? nah, just the thought that crossed my mind when I read the first post.

Carry on.

I don't see the answers in freecell very often... Most of the time I have to take it step by step, figuring out a plan to get this little area secure, never actually having a grand plan. Is it still addicting? YES

I wish I had your spiderman-like abilities of precognition feelgood. That would be such an asset when programming.
