To be or not to be?

That is really the mother fucking question.

I choose to be.

Im not hiding, or even caring at this point.

Sorry for everyone else that doesnt have a clue.

The ones Im talking to know who they are. *rant over*

To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.

That includes "being" and "not being"

Maybe this belongs in Philosophy?

DOOBIE

absence_of_color 01-28-2004 12:52 PM

A doobie sounds awesome about right now.

lurkette, there is a time for everything, but sometimes, that time is delayed or prolonged by lack of sense or purpose?

Mr.Deflok 01-28-2004 12:56 PM

Arnold said it best in his redition of Hamlet
"To be, or not to be, not to be."

Nah, I choose to be, still got a lot of things in life I'd like to do, namely sleep with Kelly Monaco.

absence_of_color 01-28-2004 01:02 PM

Who the hell is Arnold? lol

cchris 01-28-2004 01:16 PM

Horseshack probably.

He,like me,answered what was the question?*

EruptiveDreamz 01-28-2004 02:03 PM

OooooOooooOooo Mr Kotter! Or something like that.. wasn't it? Now what was the question?

Cynthetiq 01-28-2004 02:11 PM

from descarte...I think therefore I am.

but when I'm not thinking I still am. So the only true answer is BE.

skier 01-28-2004 02:33 PM

i'll have to be. My body won't let me not be.

feelgood 01-28-2004 05:55 PM

Actually if you're talking about Hamlet's quote, it goes "To be or To be not"

Just FYI :D

Be Me. Not be someone else.

analog 01-29-2004 01:29 AM

I've got to be me, but i'm not to be outdone. Therefore, both.

Hamlet, Act 3, Scene 1, lines 66-98:

Quote:

To be, or not to be: that is the question: _
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer _
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, _
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep; _
No more; and, by a sleep to say we end _
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, ’tis a consummation _
Devoutly to be wish’d. To die, to sleep; _
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there’s the rub; _
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil, _
Must give us pause. There’s the respect _
That makes calamity of so long life; _
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor’s wrong, the proud man’s contumely, _
The pangs of dispriz’d love, the law’s delay, _
The insolence of office, and the spurns _
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make _
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear, _
To grunt and sweat under a weary life, _
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover’d country from whose bourn _
No traveller returns, puzzles the will, _
And makes us rather bear those ills we have _
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all; _
And thus the native hue of resolution _
Is sicklied o’er with the pale cast of thought, _
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry, _
And lose the name of action.

Iliftrocks 01-29-2004 06:35 AM

Thank you bunny! :icare:

My post actually had me wanting to read that again, but I was just way to lazy to look it up. I always loved the emotion and romance his writings makes me feel.

Makes me want to pin my hair up and wear this floor length, velvet renaissance dress that has been collecting dust in the back of my closet.

To the rest of you, be or be not. Whatever makes you happy. :)

viejo gringo 01-29-2004 07:51 PM
