So, what's kicking YOUR butt in life right now?

Right now I'm well into the 15th hour of working on this week's die line project , and it's verging on one of the most difficult individual work assignments I've ever had . The fact that it'smind bending isn't too bad , but working with Excel to do statistics just takes forever sometimes . I think I'm going to flip out if I have to run any more regression analyses on this stuff .

So I ask the rest of the TFPer's, what hard assignments are driving you up the wall so far this week ?

fracturedmind 04-19-2003 10:06 AM

Next week is exam week, Physics I, Calculus II, History II (mean ass teacher), and Government II, and some Art Appreciation bullshit all in a 3 day period. Ugh.

A paper that I have to type for human sexuality class, and this dance I have to know flawlessly to teach to my dance class next wednesday. Paper isn't started, dance is not perfect. Lol.

I have an interveiw on Monday with a new editor at the paper I used to work for.

He's replacing the guy that fired me from my last job there.

MyFakeAccount 04-19-2003 10:48 AM

the job market has gone to hell, we should start a "Get a New job here" thread.

Mad_Gecko 04-19-2003 10:58 AM

Johnnysmoke No Sh|t,
Although I guess we used the bandwith with Y2K, and still paying for it.

Yep, the man who is now chargin' $7.5 a day for me to drive in my city is gettin right up my @rse. Also my neighbors, (although they have every right) for complaining that I have 2Live rockin at 1 am. (Argh, wish they were noisy!)

phunktastic 04-19-2003 11:41 AM

Not much kicking my ass right now :) In the final stretch of high school so there isn't much to do :)

Hoping college doesn't kick my ass too hard.

nightshade000 04-19-2003 11:55 AM

I'm getting pre-emptive on that... even for a college student, who they know will work for half the rate of a full-time person, there ain't this out there... so I'm changing my major :P

snowy 04-19-2003 12:12 PM

Let's see...nothing really this week--I have a test in my Spanish 213 class Monday and a presentation on Hemingway in the same class on Thursday, as well as the first midterm exam in my human sexuality class, but that all should be cake. Thank goodness for cake. The following week, however, I have a five-page essay due in my ENG 470 (Studies in Poetry: Romantics and Victorians) class and I have another essay and a presentation due in my ENG 362 (Women's Voices in American Literature) class. Both are things I'm getting started on this weekend and working on over the course of this week, so as they DON'T kick my butt too badly the closer they get :) So, generally, I would say school is kicking my butt :D

Meistermannen 04-19-2003 12:16 PM

Running a fever and coughing up my lungs. But other than that; not much, hombres, not much.

kgb 04-19-2003 12:16 PM

Two of my exgirlfriends are getting married this summer. I have been single for almost 7 months and I just spent $95 on my cat at the vet. sigh.

GuttersnipeXL 04-19-2003 12:18 PM

The fact that I'm still living in my hometown. I've moved 5 different times across the country, and always end up coming back. I can't move now because of the money situation. I get a paycheck, then it goes strait to bills and rent. It's a no win situation. Cost of living gets so high...do do do....(sings like Marley)

onodrim 04-19-2003 12:22 PM

School right now. Naturally every single teacher wants to assign twenty project right at the same time. That along with my voice juries, the approaching finals, and the recently finished opera, I barely had time to breathe. Thankfully things are finally starting to cool down, and I can relax a little more and get back on TFP. I missed you all!

Zello 04-19-2003 01:14 PM

Mine might not sound like half of what everyone else is going through but I have a speech coming up Thursday. I hate speeches with a passion. Fortunatly it's only 3 people who I have to give it to and I know 1 of em. But still speeches are still my mortal enemy. Who I would love to run from if at all possible.

boatin 04-19-2003 01:17 PM

putting a room in the basement of my house. I'm drywalling right now. It has a million corners and edges, and I'm thinking that I will never finish in my lifetime. All work and no play...

G_Whiz 04-19-2003 01:20 PM

The economy. I'm having to dismantle programs that we built up over the past 6 years. It's tough to receive national recognition for the job you did, only to have to tear it down.

Oh well, we'll just have design something else to replace it.

laconic1 04-19-2003 01:45 PM

These damn Adventures in Operations Management problems. I have to get through 10 sets of these things, they take me about three hours apiece, and I learn nothing from them. Oh, and they're worth a big chunk of my grade. Damn you Quant Systems!!!! Damn you Professor B!!!

Not a lot really - things are generally pretty cool at the moment. Have to say I read this yesterday and it puts things in perspective

http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2003/4/11/4127/09278

I don't have any of this "crap" to worry about.

When you also think what some of the folks in Iraq are living like at the moment (no water, food or power) and it kind of makes my problem of the shelves I wanted from IKEA not fitting in the car look like a fart in the wind.

bundy 04-19-2003 03:18 PM

news article on bulk billing
finished just yesterday.
hurray!

a1t3r3g0 04-19-2003 06:13 PM

I have to write a long ass essay on Hemingway for the, oh I dunno, 5,342nd time in my life.

phoenix1002 04-19-2003 06:21 PM

School, of course... Last day of classes the 29th, so french, madness in chinese literature, and environmental science finals after that, music juries on the 29th (don't know all the scales and stuff I need to have memorized for it yet), presentation on tuesday for the 3000-word research paper I haven't started writing yet, chamber music concert on thursday or friday, and my music for one of the pieces disappeared, a french test this week sometime, and a page or two for madness due tuesday as well. Oh yeah, and maybe a lesson on tuesday too, which i haven't practiced enough for yet. And, just to top it off, the bike I came home to pick up (since my other bike got recalled) was sold the day before I got back, so I won't be able to use it on the trails this spring, at least not until I get back home after school's out. But the weather's nice, and schools almost out, so its all good... just have to make it through the next week or two.

My butt gets kicked by nothing.

Sluggin 04-20-2003 12:36 AM

Trying to figure out if a great friendship is worth risking on a relationship.. it would be easier if I could read her better, but it may end up being rather risky..

But I think the simple fact that I woke up at 3 a.m. on Easter to go out side in the rain and cold half naked to smoke a few cigerettes because I can't sleep is enough of a sign to say I need to go forward here... any thoughts on that one?! :p
