quick birthday present for friends girlfriend
Ok, i am a bit dire here. My friend's girlfriends birthday is tomorrow and she's mainly inviting her friends (who are all or mainly girls :D ), however me and another friend of mine are pretty good friends of hers and have been invited as well and we decided to get her a present/token, however there is a present etiquette issue in that we're not sure what to get or overstep the mark or anything.
Basically i was thinknig cliche' female gifts (if you can call them that) chocolate, flowers, stuffed animal (teddy bear etc) Any other safe or cliched gifts we could get her? It's not really a thought thing, moreso just a token of thanks for inviting us and happy birthday. hmmmm as most presents are :p  nothing too serious really. thanks for any help, it's about 32 hours away  |
depending on how well you know her, get her a gift certificate for victoria's secret. I did that for a friends gf once and they both enjoyed it!
Be careful though.... the gift can be taken the wrong way. Make sure you know your friend and his gf well enough to be able to do it. |
I am not sure if we have Victoria Secret here in Aus?
Anyway, i see where you're coming from though, could be good. Cheers for the thought. As long as i don't buy any of the underwear myself :p that'd be dodgy how much does womens underwear cost, nowdays? :o :D ie what's a suitable amount to get something goodish? :) |
Tough one. You gotta get something meaningful to her (but not TOO meaningful)
Especially if there will be lots of girls at the party. You have a prime opportunity to impress! :D |
I dont know might want to look into geting a gift basket . The ones with the soap, body wash, bath salts, bubble bath ect. They are nice and they dont look like a "cheap" gift not to mention it is something practical as well as useful. You can get some really nice ones in the 20 to 25 dollar range, and of course they do have more expensive ones as well just depends on what you are willing to spend, and I dont mean it in a negative way.

You can pick up a Foot Spa from Target or K-Mart for around $30 nowadays......
Oh, and there's these cool Fairy Floss machines made by Kambrook or Breville or one of those companies that you can get for $60. Makes real fairy floss! The only ingredient you need is sugar! That way she can use it at her party, and everyone can get really hyper and have a great time. Remember to post up what you end up buying and whether she liked it or not, just for future reference ;) |

also that bath/gift basket is damn good as well, didn't think of that. Girls get these all the time, np wonder they smell so good :) I'll be consulting with my friend (the boyfriend) tomorrow about what should be apt for her, but cheers for throwing some ideas in the air. Should work out nicely :) Quote:
nah, will do, hopefully it's all good :) |
Yes, do post the results, that will be very interesting. Often it is the little personal details for gifts that are the most meaningful, especially to the ladies, so I suggest something that has a story behind it or something that says "I was paying attention."
Also, giving a so-called "chick flick" that you've watched and can comment about is good, it'll send a good message to the single ladies who happen to be watching the gift opening. They'll see your gift, hear your comments about the movie, and make their judgements. Ive never actually tried the "chick flick" gift though... Good Luck. |
a not so original, but very safe gift is booze. typically when invited to a party, a guest might bring a bottle of wine. if you know the birthday girl well enough to know what (if anything) she really likes (be it wine, good beer, Jagermeister, whatever) you could get her a bottle of that.

Just get her something that your friend will like.
Like a new flashlight, or a pocket knife. Or you can't go wrong with a jumbo bar of specialty chocolate. |
good ideas, gift cards always work though
|
I'm going to suggest to go with a good bottle of liquor.

even though it's been 3 days: stuffed animal from a recent movie she liked is always good...
Even though we're both around 20, a friend of mine threw a sort of party this weekend and we got her a stuffed Dory from the pixar movie Finding Nemo, because she's been speaking whale ever since she saw it... Needless to say she was thrilled with the gift :) |
Ok, i ended up getting some perfume and this scented aromatherapy (sp?) teddy bear thingy.
She seemed thrilled, albeit a little intoxicated at the time, so that worked ok. on a random related note: Needless to say, the couple of friends i was attracted to had boyfriends :( thanks for the ideas, nevertheless :D |
