Wife lost job, considering Bond DVD sale to raise some funds...

Well, another year come and gone, this one is hitting hard. wife lost her job at the end of the year (Bar owner tried to venture out and failed, ran outa cash and shut down, oops) And due to finances, looking to make a lil extra cash. One idea we had was to sell off some of my James Bond DVD's that I never watch. I've got 12 of them and looking on ebay, I might see 8-15 Each from the sale of them.

If I do manage to sell all 12 at 15 each, I'd see about 180 minus ebay and paypal fees. Does this sound like a good idea to do, or should I try selling them on more specialized locations, since they're all Out Of Print, unless you purchase them in the 7 Pack Boxed Sets?

the ones I'm considering selling are all unwatched, but have shelf wear (scratches on the casing from being shelved close together) they are:
A View to a kill
You Only Live Twice
Live and Let Die
The Living Daylights
From Russia With Love
The Spy who Loved Me
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Octopussy
Moonraker
The Man with the golden Gun
Dr No
Diamonds are forever

Am I crazy for considering this? I'm not really a big fan of the earlier bond movies, hence their unwatched status, but it's kinda painfull to see a portion of my collection go :/

Well, you gotta do what you gotta do. I like James Bond movies, and would buy a few if I had the money, but, unfortunately, I understand your situation all too well. I hope something pans out, and soon for you guys, though. Best of luck to you.

Good luck, again I would buy some if I had the cash but I'm in education so I understand all too well the boat you are trying to keep afloat.

I think it may be a stretch to try to get that much for them, seeing as you can buy them for that much in the boxed set. 8-10 would be a better number to plan on, and then it would be a nice bonus if they sold for more.

Sorry about the job, man. Life has a habit of kicking you in the nuts at no fault of your own.

I thought the thread title indicated you were seeking advice on selling a BONDAGE dvd you made with your wife.

*Whew*

Must concur with sailor420, 8-10 bucks sounds more reasonable, although as a complete set, and exclusively as a complete set, you might get some better cash the ebay route.

I doubt this is really a sustainable solution to your problem though....unless you have an endless supply of DVDs or better yet a DVD burner

Best of luck,

I feel sorry for you and your wife, but I gotta tell you, the best way to make money is NOT to sell off your possesions. You hardly ever get what you paid for them, and pretty soon you're left with nothing. Try to find another way to pick up some extra cash. The people that actually make money using ebay are those people that buy crap in bulk from suppliers, or people who spend their lives rooting through thrift store crap and marking it up 1000%. Either way its still crap being sold for more than its worth. Whatever you decide to do, good luck!

I think that is some good advice. Selling your stuff is a one time thing. Maybe a second job? It sucks, but I dont think selling everything you own is the best way to get more money. If you are in a short-term pinch, OK, but its not a solution.

Heh, well, this is more of a selling off something I never cared for anyhow. I think I aquired them back when they first came out with my employee discount for around 10 each, and have never actually watched them. Besides, the deal is, this for groceries now, and her paychecks for my new toys once we're back on our feet =D

Having been in your shoes in the early 90's I learned alot. When you get back on your feet, you may want to change your priorities a bit. Toys and expensive entertainment might be better put off until you have 3 to 6 months income put away for the tough times. I had 2 very lean years during a military move. Lots of beans and franks for meals. Since then I have learned to pay myself first and make plans for unemployment or tough times. It has worked wonders for me. Hope you recover much faster than I did.
