Natural Disasters/Storms???
Who likes them? I mean, ones that don't hurt/kill anyone-
I am talking about snow & ice, thunder & lightning, wind, even earthquakes & tornadoes I find intriguing, although the damage is not cool. Is anyone else intrigued by the powers of these storms & events? I am enjoying (even though it has no effect on me) the cold, snowy, icey weather we are having here and it being all over the news. It makes me feel cozy and safe, needing nothing more than having my husband & son near me. It may sound wierd of me, but I enjoy it. |
I adore watching thunder storms -- something so magnificent and powerful, yet beautiful, about them!
|
I love thunder and lightening storms. I hated sleeping through them though. It was suck when I would go to school and everyone I knew would be talking about this awesome storm that woke them up. They would ask if I had heard it or anything and I was always like "What storm"?
As far as snow I HATE IT, I hate anything that I have to shovel. I didnt so much mind it when I was younger it gave my friends and I something to build forts with if it was packing snow. But now I am older, I have to shovel the white s**t and dont like it. |

Thunder and lightning and a warm fireplace... A walk on the beach during a winter storm... The awesomeness of nature. |
I live in miami...
I always root for a hurricane to turn our way and hit us. I guess its the thrill and uncertainty of whether its gonna hit or not... but I dont wish for destruction or death... just a little wind... thats all, so i can stay home from work... I must admit, I went through Hurricane Andrew, and that was no joke... :( |
here in Costa Rica, our menu is highlighted by earthquakes.... I must say these are not fun by any stretch of the imagination......
We had one at 5 am this morning, bout 5 on the scale... :( |
I agree with all of what you say. Except for the winter storm, us canadians get them year round and it's kinda getting annoying...
*adds to his list of things to do* 1. Move to warmer place. |
Closest thing I've ever experienced to a natural disaster was a big ice storm about 7 years ago. It was kinda nasty, downed power lines everywhere, schools and businesses were shut down (seems like I was the only person I knew who still had to go into work). As far as I know, there were a very small number of casualties that could be directly attributed to the ice storm, it was mostly just a big inconvienience.
When it wasn't raining ping-pong ball sized chunks of ice, I loved going outside to look at all the trees, bending underneath the weight of the ice that had coated the branches. The way the light hit them seemed almost magical, couple that with the fact that I was just about the only person crazy enough to go out and brave the elements. It made for moments of serenity that I've never been able to match. |
I like snow storms, especially now that I don't have a driveway to shovel :D
|
Hell yeah crazy weather is fun, the past week we got tons of snow, very cold weather, freezing rain, and now we will be getting floods. We only need a wind storm to top it off. :D
|
I love thunderstorms- the rain is fun to run in, and the lightning is amazing to watch.
|
Climb 15 feet up a ladder or have a spider crawl on me and I pack shit heaps, but for whatever reason the pure rush of a violent storm is great.
Thunder and lightning has always been a fascination for me and whilst we dont have tornadoes or the like here it would be great to experience it up close. |
Nature kicks ass.
|
I live in the midwest and one of my cars is an old shitty beater. Tornado chasing is fun ;)
|
I've experienced earthquakes, hurricanes, awsome lighting storms, major snow dumps, and a flood or two. All of them were cool except the flood.
|
I love them. There's nothing like watching a hurricane rage around you to make you feel truly small and humble, but living through it unscathed makes you feel profoundly lucky and grateful.
Thunderstorms are awesome. The noise, the light, the sound of the rain on the roof. Even better if you're inside watching it, warm and dry. It's always the ability to get away from the storms that really makes them fun. And I love walking in a snowstorm, the kind that just dumps big, fat, sticky flakes for hours and hourse, the kind where you can see the level of the snowdrifts rising noticeably. Or the kind where the wind is howling and whipping hard little flakes against the windows. Nice to come out of those and sit by the fire. |

To address the topic under discussion, I absolutely love a really good thunder/lightning storm. There is just something so humbling about the incredible power that nature has. I used to sit on our dock and revel in the way the lake would get churned up during a really great storm and I am a big fan of watching lightning. edit....snow and ice sucks the big one, though!!! ;) |

having wild monkey sex during thunderstorms :)
mmmmmm.... truly nature is awe inspiring to say the least... |
I love storms. I used to sit on the porch of my lakehouse during thunderstorms all the time... Incredible.
|
I love thunder & lightning. Summer rain storms are just awesome. Unless you live in tornado alley. Then...no thanks.
