Do you use a washcloth?

When you shoawer or bath, do you use a washcloth? My mom always had us use one when we were kids. I must have stopped using them in college since there was really no place to dry them. Plus it added to the laundry. Anyway, I still do not use one regularly. I use the bar of soap and my hands to wash. I do notice that when I use a washcloth, it gets dirt on it. I always wonder if I am geting clean enough without a washcloth.

I guess you'd get cleaner with a washcloth as it has more surface area contacting your skin and may be a bit more abrasive. Most of the "dirt" is dead skin, so you'll want to get that off to feel clean. Your mother is pretty smart.

The dirt you find on the washcloth is trapped in the material. The dirt on your hands would be quickly rinsed off.

I don't use a washcloth in the shower, but like to use one in the tub. I particularly wouldn't use one while washing my sweetie for reasons other than cleanliness.

Just kidding.

I use one too, I always feel self-conscious when I buy one at the drug store, I should start buying Maxim and Guns & Ammo at the same time, just in case the cashier is questioning my sexuality

The best washcloths are the kind that fit over your hand like a square glove, as opposed to the flat ones that you have to hold. As for answering the question, I don't normally use one in the shower, just to moisten up and rinse the face pre and post shave. I should note that the poofie things do lather better than the washcloth, in my experience.

Poofie things rule, especially for people with dry skin. They feel soooooo good on an itcy back, all lathery and good.

yes, I use a wash cloth. I just don't feel like I get clean any other way.

Oh, and on the poofie things - I used one when I shortly used a liquid body wash, neither trend lasted long. . .

I used to use a washcloth. I used a loofah for a while too. Then my dermatologist told me to stop using anything abrasive on my face, just to use soap, rub it on with my hands, wash, and be done with it. That sounded pretty good to me so that's what I do.

I'm baaaaack!

Poofie thing, and sometimes a sea sponge. The thing with sea sponges is that they deteroriate pretty quickly- or I guess you could just call it falling apart. I don't know how they are different from loofahs, but I should start using one of those to get some dead skin off.

I have never used washcloths, because when I was a kid, they wouldn't get dried right, and would be cold and slimy. Scarred me for life.

I like using this thing called a "girl". It is the only way I can get all of my back easily. A lot of times drugstores don't have them, so they can be hard to find.

When doing a google search for the real name of mysterious hanging poof thing, I came upon this article with a hilarious and true opening paragraph.

I picked up the habit of using the washcloth like a towel. I use it to dry my face after washing my hair and face and shaving. As a result, I don't have to deal with water running into my eyes as a clean the rest of my. Sometimes I use the puffy thing and sometimes I just use my hands.

Pretty sadly I think I know the name of the "poofy thing", growing up w/o a dad and brought up by my mom and 2 sister's, they've always called it a loofa. I use the loofa when i've got dead skin around my elbows/feet that I need to scrub hard to get off, and occasionally when i'm not in a hurry i'll decide to use it. But for the morning showers where you gotta get ready fast, it's just a bar of soap and my hand.

Elitegibson, that article is too good to not post for all to read, including the click illiterate, so I've posted it below.

"It’s shower time kids and I’m checking out a variety of shower gels for men this time. I think the biggest obstacle to shower gels for men has got to be the puff/pouf. Few men will actually admit to using a product with a sissified name like pouf. They might as well have named it the “Wimpy Pansy Scrubber For The Delicate Woman In Your So-Called Man Scrubby Puff”. Most men will pretend that they don’t know the item’s real name and will opt to call it a “scrub-mumble-shower-ball-thing-mutter-something-my-wife-mumble-Say-How- ‘Bout-Them-Buckeyes?”. I am sure that many men are closet pouf users! The worst part is the misconception that the pouf is a sissy item while, in truth, it functions like manly sandpaper for the shower. Rename it something potent and powerful like “SkinLord the Gritmaster” or “Skinbane the Razor Skrubber Of Doom” and the shower gel for men market will explode! Ah well, what do I know anyway? I thought Crème de la Mer was a location on the Moon!"

I love the puff/pouf!

LMAO... SkinLord the Gritmaster...

I used to use the washcloth, when i was a kid, but not so much anymore. Just my hand and a bar of soap, and then just shampoo and conditioner for the hair. No gel, mousse, etc.- unless i'm going out someplace and need to.

Anyhow, I used my (now ex-) girlfriend's poofy thing a few times, and didn't notice any huge difference... but then I don't tend to get all that dirty on a regular basis... and I have really soft skin anyway.

I use a bar of soap. I don't need the abrasive stuff to get rid of dead, dry skin. For the dry skin, I tried pumice and stuff like that, but it just didn't do the trick. I currently use moisturizer on my arms, legs, hands, and feet, moisturizing soap everywhere. Paul Sebastian makes some great mens' moisturizer, it works well, doesn't get you greasy, and it smells good.

On a side note: my toenails are so thick that I've broken nail clippers on the big toes, so I skipped files and went straight to the Dremel.
