So I'm watching the local news the other night and they do a report on a bank robbery. The couple, a man and a woman, do nothing to disguise themselves and the cameras have a crystal clear image of them. Anybody who knew either of these two would easily identify them.

But, just in case nobody recognized them, they made it even easier by writing the note that they handed to the teller on the back of a PERSONAL CHECK! Yeah, their own account! I'd say this goes in the dumb vault! :crazy:

Indeed, that has to be one of the most idiotic bank robberies ever...

The bank heist they kicked from first place was:
A guy robs a bank (disquise and all), demands money and gets it from the teller.
The teller said she would get in trouble with upper management if he didn't sign a release for the money. So the guy writes out his name on a withdrawal note :D
in short: guy arrested, the teller a local hero

desperation is a breeding ground for stupidity. these two must've been REALLY desparate ;)

I've always thought the phrase "dumb criminal" was redundant.

Nobody ever said you had to be smart to be a criminal. that happened around the area i lived. Except a couple robbed some amish couple, the amish couple had no money on them, so the robbers told them to write them a personal check. the next day they tried to cash it and a local bank about 10 miles from the crime scene. real smart.

I remember a Darwin Award a few years back where some idiot tried to rob a gun shop with a knife. Tried being the operative word. :rolleyes: I can't decide which story is worse.

While we are on the stupid criminal slams...here's another.
A guy that worked at my place of employment a few years back, robbed the gas station down the street from our facility.
Now a mask and gloves MIGHT have helped....IF he had taken off his company badge with his picture, full name and the name of the company on it. And the kicker....He drives away in, you got it, the company vehicle!
5 minutes later the police are there to take him away. Bye bye career!

Pretty dumb, all of those stories. I have to disagree with these being in the Darwin catagory, since they did not die. If these people had died while doing something stupid, then it would be a Darwin winner(loser).

I once heard about a robbery in which the criminal was on the run from the authorities, and had seemingly lost them, until a cop spotted him in a tree. How? The idiot was wearing light-up sneakers, that gave him away in the dark.
