Maybe I'm more of a prude than I give myself credit for, but to me this is just plain wrong...

A friend of mine told me last night that her parents sleep in the nude. Nothing wrong with that, more power to them. But she said she has absolutely no quarms in jumping into bed with them and cuddling up to either of them. Well and good if she was, say, 5... but she's 26!

She couldn't believe I thought that was a bit suss, so the jury is still out.

I thought i'd put it to TFP and see if I was with the majority or not...

Parents sleeping nude = fine.

It's completely fucked up.
I sleep in the nude, but if I ever have kids they'll be nowhere near me when I'm in bed. I find it even more fucked up that she's 26. I'm 26 and I would rather kill myself than jump in bed with either one of my parents.... And that's if everyone's wearing clothes.

ugh! Parents can sleep in the nude, but I just don't want to know. No visuals, no talk, nada!

I agree with krwlz. Seeing parents nude should be no big deal, but getting in bed with them nude wouldn't seem "normal" for most, me included. Now people from other cultures, especially Europeans, don't have the hang-ups many Americans do about their bodies and their sexuality. Take for instance I've heard of women breastfeeding their children until they are five or six years old. Now that is a little over the top. Who really wants their kid to have fond memories of nipple-sucking?:crazy: :p

Negative. It's just when she goes around there early and they're still in bed. There's no boundaries crossed, just gives them a cuddle.

I think i have to agree with the majority here who think something is not quite right here. While there are nudist/naturalist, who feel there is nothing wrong with other family members seeing them aunatural, Children sleeping with parents in the nude carries conatations of a sexual nature. Isn't this what the M. Jackson case is sort of like. There is an age thing here also. Her being 26 strikes me as a little funny. You would think she would have grown out of the habit of jumping into bed to snuggle with parents, nude or not.

My parents sleep in the nude, and as kids my brothers and I would jump into their bed some mornings to cuddle. My brothers and I did wear pajamas, however. Looking back at this experience, what we did doesn't seem abnormal or creepy to me.

The situation being posted seems uncomfortable to me for two reasons:
1. Skin-skin contact (versus our skin-pajama contact)
2. Age of the woman involved (my brothers and I stopped when we hit puberty)

Why is she or would she cuddle with her parents at that age? i don't get it. I think I stopped cuddling with my folks when i was 10, at the max.

By the way, no one ever answered what the heck "sus" means.

If my wife and I have had sex, and sleep in the nude and one of the kids comes to our room, the first thing we do is quickly get dressed. Sleeping in the nude is fine, sleeping in the nude with children in bed, not fine. My $.02.

Yeah, this is a bit edgy at age 26.

I think all this fear of nakedness is pretty odd. If a family is used to being nude some of the time and shame is absent from body image, then there need not be anything odd about not having clothes on.

Hello people... it is not important whether you have a piece of fabric covering certain parts of your anatomy. I'm not some nudist and I wan't raised in some kind of naked house or anything. I'm just trying to point out that this is a relic of victorian prudishness and that it is nonsensical and random. All you uptight folks out there probably make fun of the muslims for wearing head scarves, etc. - but you don't realize that your odd beliefs and oddities are really not any different.

Nakedness does not HAVE to mean anything. It doesn't HAVE to be important. If you are raised in a house where being nude isn't made shameful then it is normal and no different than not being nude. sheesh...

I see my parents nude sometimes - they don't care and I don't care. I'm married so I've "seen it all before" in their opinion. They are my parents - there is no remote possibility that I will find them sexually attractive, so what's the big deal?
But I would never even contemplate getting into bed with them. Very not right!

I think that that's kind of creepy. I would never even want to get in bed with my naked parents, much less "cuddle" with them.
