A Texas A&M University football player has been charged with indecent exposure after police say he masturbated in a university parking lot while smiling at a female student who was trying to park her car.

Tate Pittman, a freshman defensive lineman from Odessa, was released Thursday from the Brazos County Jail after posting $10,000 bail. He has been suspended from the team, according to a release issued by A&M Athletics Director Bill Byrne.

A female student was trying to park her car Oct. 28 when Pittman, 18, pulled up next to her in a Dodge Ram and began smiling at her, according to court records.

When the woman walked closer to the truck, records state, Pittman asked her, “Can you help me with this?” as he motioned to his exposed genitals.

The woman contacted College Station police several days later and identified Pittman from a lineup.

It was the second time Pittman has been arrested in less than six weeks. He was charged with driving while intoxicated in September but has not stood trial on that charge.

Texas A&M football coach Dennis Franchione said Thursday he would not comment and directed reporters to Byrne’s statement.

The statement, issued Thursday afternoon, said only that Pittman had been suspended from the program indefinitely for violating Athletic Department rules and the university’s code of conduct.

Pittman has not played in a game this season for the Aggies and was being redshirted.

i remember hearing about the girls at the local high school once having a man expose himself to them in a similar manner...
but, instead of running away and getting offended... these worldy girls pointed, laughed and asked if that was all he had...

Well, I suppose that at least it's good to see that Nebraska players aren't the only one's that think they can get away with doing stupid crap like that.

It's our own fault, really. We've treated these meatheads like they're minor deities all of their lives, then we're surprised when they think that they above the laws that govern us mere mortals.

From what I've heard, that kind of thing might actually work some times.

Several years ago, I was walking in Boston Common when I saw a guy going up to women and using the line "Wanna fuck?" I asked him if that ever worked. He told me it did about 1 time in 10. I was amazed, as you can imagine. Haven't tried it, myself. I have standards of behavoir.

Exactly.
It's especially bad in college athletics, because:
1. They're just starting not being under direct (parental) supervision.
2. The close geographic proximity to so many young women.

Not that it gets much better in the Pros, when we start throwing obscenely large piles of cash at them, too.

Pittman was indefinitely suspended from the football program after his second arrest.

A woman contacted College Station police on Nov. 17 — five days after Pittman’s first exposure arrest — and told officers the football player had exposed himself to her and asked if she wanted to watch him pleasure himself, according to court documents. She told police the incident occurred on Fidelity Street, which is south of the A&M campus, at about 3:45 p.m. on Nov. 3.

Records state that the woman picked Pittman out of a line-up, as did the first student who accused him of the lewd act. Both women also told police that Pittman was in a silver Dodge pickup, which is the same type of vehicle he owns, according to court records.

Alan Cannon, associate athletic director for media relations, declined comment on the arrest.
