i can honestly say that i first came here, when tilted boobies or whatever was first posted on fark ages ago. since then i've joined, not posted, leeched, made accounts... etc. then i came back for this version, was wise to my ways and decided that it was wise to start posting, i've found my niche in the tilted literature section where i post many of my writings, and have gotten good feedback, and am able to have a relationship with people of a similar nature.

many props to halx, for his choices on running the board, and making this a community available to all. this is the only board i've activley posted on, board such as acarhitus and entensity can not even compare to this. there are highly intelegant people here that make conversing all the more worthwhile.

and with that said, i'm finishing my 4th glass of wine, and am going to write some more. welcome miggy and enjoy the party.

Well, miggy2001 signed up in August and hasn't posted once yet...

Methinks the member count does not include some member numbers...

SecretMethod70 11-11-2003 07:42 PM

My bad, user number 30,000 is newsmoo8. For some reason, the userID number doesn't match the total users. *Shrug* Oh well, this is the correct one this time :)

yellowgowild 11-11-2003 08:03 PM

Make them go through the trials so we know they are worthy.

CSflim 11-12-2003 02:19 AM

When a member is bannded, the total number of accounts doesn't go down right? Is there a way to find out how many active accounts we have?

RelaX 11-12-2003 02:24 AM

newsmoo8, signed in 2 days ago and no post so far. Can anyone say 'axing script'? :p
He/she will start posting when they realise there get their senses together. I lurked for a looong time too before I started getting active.

Anyway, from Tilted Newbies:

Seems like TFP is back at it's former level.

correct.

I count about 1800 with 100+ posts. I would think that's an accurate number for the regular active participants.

Would it be too much trouble to do a breakdown into some categories? Like x have <25, y 25 or more but less than 100, etc. Just curious.

nukeu666 11-12-2003 02:07 PM

i have 130 users on my college forum and about a dozen regularly post
its the same everywhere

I had no idea that the percentage was that low, but I can't say that I am too suprised (I also used to lurk when fark had linked to this place long ago).
It's hard to believe what a little nudge to become active in the community can do for you.

BuDDaH 11-12-2003 06:30 PM

Here's another nudge:

Don't worry, the axe will fall very soon again...
It's going to be clean up time again and time to clean the house of non active personel.

Bank on it..

Does deleting users move everyone else "down"?

IE if I was member # 200 before spring cleaning, and 10 were deleted, would my number then move down to 150?

Or are there "gaps" left by the deleted members?

MacGnG 11-12-2003 07:07 PM

he better participate!

apechild 11-13-2003 11:29 AM

Perhaps it's my limited ability to process information, but I do at times find this board a bit overwhelming. There are a lot of participants, a lot of topics, a lot of posts, and I find it somewhat impersonal. Maybe I don't spend enough time here, but other "communities" I participate in are much more intimate and, well, feel more like a community.

That said, the diversity of membership here makes it quite a vibrant, dynamic group. Hard to keep up, but definitely stimulating and fun.

santafe5000 11-13-2003 11:34 AM

Maybe our newest member is a bit shy. Soon maybe they will throw off their shyness and dive in.

It's a lot closer than you might think. This site started as a small community and has grown and adapted to the growth by creating new forums and added features. Just stick to the topics that interest you the most and you'll find that there are others who tend to stick to those interest forums as well.

I've only been a member for a short time and this is BY FAR one of my favorite boards. Thank you and good job Halx :)
