There are a few things that make me believe this is a fake news story.
You aren't allowed to leave kids alone, and 1 adult for every 10 kids is the law, at least in my state. They didn't say anything about the woman facing charges for leaving them unattended or being under-staffed so... I don't know the ages of the kids but lets say between 1-3. They can't organize an attack and the nanny wouldn't have left the room if they were fighting, so another reason to believe it's false. Or if it is true.. Maybe the nanny planned the attack.. hmm... ok I dunno what to think but it sounds a little wierd that babies playing can turn into a mass biting in just a few minutes while the nanny turns her back... 1 or 2 babies maybe, but 12 of them?

and for my reply I would like to say many many things...but mostly that if there was only one woman with what seems to be 12 children she needs to be banned from ever being able to nanny again...just plain not safe. As for that many kids biting...I just don't get it...and all in the time it takes to change a diaper..someone has been teaching them something. And how was this child not screaming bloody freakin' murder?? That just does not sound proper in the freaking least!! GRRR!!
As a Mom this is why I stay at home with my kids, because even if I could find a job that was worth the childcare costs, I wouldn't want to freaking leave my kids with possible nut cases that would let something like this or worse or even not so much worse, happen to my children!!!

Poor little kid
My niece goes to daycare and she came home one night with scratches all over her face. A little boy there has a habit of scratching and biting little kids. Now, I was pissed off. The teachers are there for a reason, there is no way that this type of thing should happen. Then I calmed down and realized that the teachers cannot watch every single child at every second. They should, but its not realistic. Day care situations suck ass.

My son's actually been bitten at daycare twice in the past few months..one bad enought to draw blood (and that was through clothing).
However, gang biting?? Come on..FAKE!!!! if it was adults (sick as I think it is) it would be one thing..but try to organize 1 years olds...not possible!

When babies attack:
You know the thing about a baby, he's got...lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'. Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white. And then, ah then you hear that terrible high pitch screamin' and the nap room turns red and spite of all the poundin' and the hollerin' they all come in and rip you to pieces. Y'know by the end of that first nap time, lost a hundred children! I don't know how many toddlers, maybe a thousand! I don't know how many babies, they averaged six an hour. On Thursday mornin' chief, I bumped into a friend of mine, Herbie Robinson from Cleveland. Toddler, bosom's mate. I thought he was asleep, reached over to wake him up. Bobbed up and down in the playpen, just like a kinda top. Up ended. Well... he'd been bitten in half below the waist. Seriously though, scary if it's not fake. Kids can do some crazy stuff so I can see how it could be true.

This is more common than you think unfortunately. I saw this same sort of thing on the news within the past year. There was a day care facility in SC I believe where the one child had been bitten around (I can't quite remember) 15 times. The day care director was jailed for neglect and they intended to prosecute her and close the day care. What had happened with that one is that one woman had left about 16 2-3 yr olds in the room and asked the director to take over because she was ill. The director had some errands to run so shut the children in the room and left. A janitor heard the rucus and stopped it. The boy had bites on his ears, back and face.
I believe this is possible. It's the same kind of MOB mentality except instead of turning over ahd burning cars these miniature people BITE, it's their handiest weapon and the first "tool" they think of. This is why most states require that the ratio of child to teacher be 3-1 for ages 2 and 3 yrs. A dozen children with one teacher is already a handful. They should have had the changing room RIGHT in the room with the children too. I feel soo sorry for this boy. You think some kids have it bad in school when they are constantly picked on. That's nothing compared to this. Edit: Found the Article - http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/...in538774.shtml "During the last week of January, the owner of a South Carolina day care center was arrested, accused of leaving 16 toddlers unattended for nearly an hour. During that time, police said, one 16-month-old boy was hurt when he was repeatedly bitten by another child."
