What exactly is the difference between tights and pantyhose? I know stockings usually refers to your standard thigh-high gartered nylons... but tights and pantyhose seem to be the same... what's the deal?

tights are for yoga and aerobics and ballet, etc...
pantyhose are undergarments for non-exercise stuff.

Wow, i didn't even know that and I'm a girl who has been in ballet classes. Now that i think of it though, it makes sense. Don't panyhose usually have the extra support in the top like panties usually would?

Additionally, tights can be worn as acceptable everyday outside clothing while pantyhose would probably be considered public indecency/walking around in your underwear.

tights have a thicker/denser knit and possibly thicker 'yarn'.

afaik, that's really the difference.

That's what I was going to say.
Also I don't think I've seen any "nude" see through Tights. Pantyhose tend to be less opaque than Tights and the color isn't usually tan or skin colors.

I was going to say pretty much what Raeanna said. Tights are opaque or very near to opaque, whereas pantyhose/nylons are transluscent.
