So I ask you, is there any animal more bizzare than....

The Platypus?
http://www.mckinleyink.com/images/platypus.gif

Had a discussion about this a while back on another site I post at and we couldn't really think of one single animal quite as bizzare as the Platypus

Closest we came was

The Elephant Seal
http://www.icsi.berkeley.edu/~dbaile...e/elephant.jpg

and The Echidna
http://www.condorcet.com.au/_oz/marsupials/echidna.jpg

Both pretty bizzare in their own right yes but I'm not entirely convinced that they are more bizzare than the platypus, perhaps equally bizzare to some degree but by no means exceding the rather odd features of the Platypus. I know there are more bizzare looking animals out there I just either don't know about em, or I haven't thought of em yet. Help me out.

(I probably misspelled Bizzare didn't I? Prolly misspelled misspell too for all I know)

Echidna? I never even knew such a thing existed.

The closest thing I can think of is the jackalope:

Jackalope hunting is big business in Wyoming, South Dakota and Montana.

No,

We go up to the Medicine Bow mountains between Laramie and Cheyenne all the time.

Come on out and we'll set you up.

K-Wise 10-02-2003 12:55 AM

Okay then....that animal takes the cake....nothing is gonna be able to beat that. Discussion ended.....quicker than I thought it would too....nothin to see here.

K-Wise 10-02-2003 01:03 AM

I'm having a hard time believing this. How is this evolutionally possible? I mean why in the world would the jack rabbit have to evolve horns? It already had speed going for it plus the horns would provide little defense against it's common predators. It'd have to be something left over from pre-historic times or some shit. I need to see some type of certifyable documentation of this animals existence. Then I'll shut up and completely except it open mindedly but until I know for sure I'd have to assume you were pulling my leg. Never heard of that animal before cept when they used to do jokes on Americas funniest home video's with a similar looking made up creature "You can't catch me hee hee hee!!" n shit. Please put my mind at ease already whether it's a joke or not I must know now.

Discussion over?

K-Wise 10-02-2003 01:15 AM

According to this website. They aren't real it's actually a disease that happens to normal rabbits in which they grow brain tumors that protrude outward and ressemble horns. Discussion is still open though I wanna know more about em even if it is fake info.

So I ask you, is there any animal more bizzare than.... man?

He is so confused, for most of his life, he either forgets or actually thinks he isn't an animal.

K-Wise 10-02-2003 01:33 AM

Once again ART your brilliance and innovative thinking is always appreciated and welcomed. Perhaps you are right too. Back to the "jackalope" The disease is called Shope papillomavirus and it infects the oral cavity. Seeing those images was just aweful. I feel a great deal of pity for the hares.

Here's a story on the jackrabbit..

IMO the tapir is pretty weird

K-Wise 10-02-2003 01:41 AM

I knew about that animal...I had forgotten the name of it though. Thanx. That one definitely gives it a run for it's money....any animal for that matter. We'll all have to decide. Wait a minute gal...who are you? You linked me to TAMUK....MY college. Do you go there? I might know you if you do. I grew up in Kingsville. A lot of my family members still live there too. My sister is attending college down there right now. I would be too but as my profile states I owe A&M 3 & 1/2 grand which is a lot of money for me. It'll be a little while before I can come up with the cash but not too long. Well even if you don't go there it's still a crazy coincidence. Just blew my freakin mind.

Asta!!

Lebell 10-02-2003 01:42 AM

Humph, you people are no fun.

I prefer my jackalope :D

K-Wise 10-02-2003 01:43 AM

They're the same thing different name. They're also called rasselbock and we've established that they're not real.

My favorite is the Capybara

http://www.rebsig.com/capybara/capy7.jpg

It is a a tailless largely aquatic So. American rodent (Hydrochaerus hydrochaeris) often exceeding four feet (1.2 meters) in length.

There was a discussion of mice and rats getting into your house. How would you like one of these around? In another source I read at one time that they can reach up to 300lbs. Now that's a BIG rat!

When I was in highschool I actually named my parakeet Capyboppy (Capy for short) for the Capybara.

Hail Citizens!

I would like to introduce to you
http://a1304.g.akamaitech.net/7/1304...oscis_zoom.jpg
the Proboscus Monkey.

They are the only things that compete with ARTelevision's pink and hairless ape. They can smell things thousands of miles away.

I made that last part up,
-GH

K-Wise 10-02-2003 02:29 PM

Gonzo is a Proboscus Monkey!
http://www.action-performance.com/mu...ages/gonzo.jpg

Well between that one, the Tapir, and the various aquatic dwelling animals we've seen posted I think we have ourselves a slew of thrown takers. So now we just gotta make it unanimus! Aight lets rack in the votes people unless you have an even weirder animal out there you'd like to put in the line up. I know they exist.
