Dial tone
Ok, on most movies when a person hangs up, there is a dial tone. I dunno if it just a movie thing, or just an american thing, but does anyones phone actually do that? cus mine dosent. its just dead for 30 seconds then a person starts saying "this call cannot be connected" and so on.
(PS- not quite sure where to put this post so i put in GD) |
Yeah pretty much a movie thing. When someone hangs up on me, it goes dead. 15-30 seconds later (i haven't counted) there is an operater message telling me to press 0 for help. Then it gets that beep when your phones off the hook.

depends on who called who. If you were the one who generated the call, then you will get that message. If the other person called you first, you will most likely get a dial-tone.
If you only hear the silence then the operator, its a sign that you are continually calling somebody that does not want to talk to you. You probably are a stalker. |
In New Zealand when somebody hangs up there's a certain tone you get that goes "Beep beep beep beep" sort of like a truck reversing (but in the dial tone obviously)... there's a cruel joke where the person sats, "Hey, do you know what a truck reversing sounds like?" then hangs up.

Second the motion
My phone is not hollywood equipped, like yours. I get nothing as cool as a dial tone when I hang up. Just that annoying voice like you.

I was once a victim of intimidating calls and the obvious thing to do was hang up straight away, but one time I left the line "open" and just placed the phone sitting on the table and this fuckwit could not hang up cause he called me. Thats how our network is here. The line was still "free" the next morning and for some reason the calls ceased after that. Pity he wasn't calling from Antarctica or somewhere. |
