nickel back (back of nickel)
WASHINGTON(AP) -- The nickel is getting a makeover.
The back side of the new 5-cent coin will commemorate the bicentennial of the 1803 Louisiana Purchase and the 1804-06 Lewis and Clark expedition. The U.S. Mint hopes to issue the nickels late this year or in early 2004. In 2006, nickels will return to a depiction of Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia home, although the image will not necessarily replicate the version on today's coin. Do you like the idea of changing up the look of our money? If so--what should be changed in the future? I'd luck to see Teddy Roosevelt on something. |
I think clinton should go on something! If for no other reason... Just for being a slut!

I don't mind money makeovers. The current state quarter is nice. Sometimes there are mistakes, like Jefferson's balloon head, but even that's OK. It gives us a chance to implement new technology, making counterfits harder.

I think it's kinda' neat - The mint has learned a very valuable lesson from the USPS. Millions of dollars in stamps are purchased each year by stamp collectors - Philatelists or something like that -(sounds almost like a blow job!). Anyhoo! These millions of dollars are spent on stamps that are never used for postage so it amounts to all but clear profit for the postal service - the same is probably happening with the commerative coins - people are taking a ton of them out of circulation which amounts to clear profit for the federal government - Just a thought.
