Suspect Listed In Critical Condition

POSTED: 8:25 a.m. EDT August 27, 2003
UPDATED: 12:23 p.m. EDT August 28, 2003
A blind man reportedly shot at two men trying to rob him Tuesday night.

Police said a blind man who lives at the St. Clements Manor in Inkster, an apartment complex for the disabled, opened fire on two men who were trying to assault and rob him. One of the suspects was shot in the chest, Local 4 reported.

The two suspected robbers then jumped through the apartment window, the station learned.

The wounded suspect was listed in critical condition at the University of Michigan Hospital. The second man was taken into custody.

The blind man was being questioned by police.

The way things are in England at the moment, the blind man would go to jail and the robbers would get counselling !

Never underestimate the power of the handicap.

The_Dude 08-29-2003 03:26 PM

and how the hell did he know where to shoot? he must've been really really good

Root_Beer_Man 08-29-2003 03:50 PM

HAHA robbers got Pwnd!

bernadette 08-29-2003 04:03 PM

*wonders if the robbers knew the victim was blind*

hate for robbers regardless, but if they actually knew he was blind prior to the attempted robbery... well that'd be even more disgusting. a lot more disgusting.

more Texas justice---hope they give him back his gun and a few
extra hollow points.....

Go blind man!

The robbers disserved to get shot, especially if they knew that the guy was blind which i'm guessing they did. Too bad he only hit one guy instead of both.

cchris 08-30-2003 03:28 AM

Yeah, lucky for the robbers that he couldn't see as this guy sounds like he would have had two head shots lined up if he could.

WhoaitsZ 08-30-2003 08:38 AM

yeah. it makes you want to send him a gun as a gift. then i think he can't see.

how about nerf?:)

actually, the way a gun works i am a bit uneasy, yet I know blind people can use melee weapons rather well.

it is interesting.

He must be....THE DAREDEVIL! Seriously though, :O

mystmarimatt 08-31-2003 12:48 PM

yeah, way to go blind man and all....but why does a blind guy have a gun in the first place...

etla 09-07-2003 01:01 PM

I this case it sounds like he was a hero. Glad I'm not a meter reader or EMT on his block though.

interesting story... and yeah.. i.. like everyone else.. would be very interested in knowing how a blind person attained a firearm...

i guess the constitution applies to blind people as well...

I can just imagine these guys in the prison shower

"So, where'd you get that one?"

"Um .. well ... I, uh, got shot by a blind guy while I was trying to rob him"

And then the butt-loving begins

GakFace 09-08-2003 12:13 PM

First off, This one I actually like, Z. As this one is of a man defending himself. The robber got what he deserved.

As for him getting a gun? He could have just as easily trained using it as anyone else. He would be taught how to fire it, and have someone judging how well he handles it. He could then learn to hold it chest level. AND THEN, I bet he could learn to shoot where he heard noises. If you're blind, you make up for your sight with touch and sound. So I'm willing to bet he heard that robber quite well. I'm sure if he trained similar to what I said, He could easily have a certificate allowing him to have a gun.

defense is the best offence
