I wouldn't mind having the fortune <i>without</i> the fame.

yeah, that's what i mean by it being a lay up. why would anyone want to have the "status" of not being able to go to the grocery/record/any store by themselves?

oh yeah fortune for me, I'd love money, but I dont think I would ever want fame.

I would choose fortune above fame any day. With fortune you can create fame with fame there is no guarantee of fortune..

Money above recognition.

Fame is not all it is cracked up to be with all the photographers and newspapers always intruding on your life. A fortune can buy good times and you can be quiet about it :)

Fortune. I don't like being the center of attention and not having to worry about money would be nice.

I think most of you are imagining fame as movie star type. I'm imagining using popularity to spread influence, like a leader or politician. I gotta admit though, I do like attention.

Money is powerfully influential. Fame comes with fortune but not necessarily vice versa, so I would go with the greater advantage of having a fortune to ultimately gain fame.

Anyway, with fame all the tabloids would be following me and stuff and that would be fun for awhile but after so long it would just really start annoying the hell out of me. I really wouldn't want that kind of popularity and attention which i'm guessing i would have if i chose fame. With fortune, i'll have a shitload a cash to spend on whatever and no tabloids to annoy the shit out of me.

I hate to say it, but I would take fortune over fame anytime. I can see your point, Halx and applaude your noble desire. Fame is more a young persons thing as they would have more energy to enjoy and manipulate it to work for them. I, on the other hand am happy when I have enough money to buy a beer after the bills are paid every month.

I don't even want to be famous. I'm a private guy and if I saw one camera on the wrong day I'd flip out.

To get to the point of achieving fame in what area it maybe, one must have a special or profound knowledge or impact of something. To be immortal, even if only for a while, means you have contributed something to society..whether for the good(Einstein) or evil (Stalin). Both have fame.
I choose to live a good life and contribute positives to those around me, maybe I will achieve fame or fortune, either way I try my best and so it is.

Fortune. Who says money cant buy happiness?

I choose fortune over fame any day. With fame comes a life that is lived in front of the public all the time. That would be a nightmare for me. However, it is possible to be rich and not famous.

Give me a fortune and I guarentee no one will know who I am. That would be just the way I like it.

wow, never in my life have i thought i'd get to the point where'd i'd actually be able to say this in all honesty. I wouldn't want either of them. Fame would just suck. I want people to know me for what I am, not what other people think i should be like. I don't want money, sure its nice to have money, but i don't want lots of money, then i would just obsess over it and stuff, which i wouldn't want.

Fortune for me too,but I still like to think that I could have fame by doing something with the money that helps others.

Seriously,it makes you wonder how your personality would change.
I have a friend that is filthy rich but I just simply don't fit in with his crowd and he is pissing it up the wall anyway,so I don't see much of him.
Whenever we visit he insists on pouring Crown Lager beer by the case load down our throats and the opportunity to show our way of life to him and his wife is lost.
She thinks we are free loading cause thats what all of his "so called" friends and associates are doing on a daily basis so the whole situation is awkward.
We honestly just visit to be the people that we have always been but they have changed.

Given my past history with spending money I would have to have a big heart to heart with my closest friends if I am ever fortunate to win a shitload cause I wouldn't want to turn out like he has.

Fortune. Fame would mean having people recognizing me and bugging me wherever I go. At least with money, as long as I don't play it up I can still maintain some anonymity.

they both go hand in hand.....if you are famous then you must be rich...well not necessarily rich but you get the point....i have yet to see a famous person that is poor.....except maybe OJ...lol

A difference can be made with money. There are tonnes of good causes out there looking for cashish.

I'd go with fortune. Money makes the world go around - if you had tons of it you could definitely achieve some fame if you so wished.

Fortune definitely....with fame, you will have people bothering you all the time. Especially if you have a furtune to go along with the fame.
